Shit. We had that at our company twice in the past couple of years but it normally happens in Q3 when they realise theyve fucked up and wont make their numbers.

Even though I wasnt affected it did give me a kick up the backside to get my own stuff going with more focus and Im a lot more relaxed now. They could fire me tomorrow and Id be good.

Im actualy leaving the company anyway after 15 years to try something new

I work in corporate strategy at the moment and have gotten pretty good at it so I am starting my own consulting gig. I have my first client already which is a FTSE 250 Aerospace company, essentially I will make my yearly salary on this 6 month project. This isnt something I want to do long term as the 'corporate' environment isnt for me. I prefer start up companies.

Last year I started an investment company which is essentially a SPV to invest in property, Ive just completed on one near me and I have exchanged on 2 in Manchester which are being built at the moment.

Also there is the start up thing, Im invested in 3 at the moment (the mental health one being the biggest), the other 2 are in medical devices one for emergency services and the other is for monitoring health in developing countries

I think you'd do well, right now it should be all about networking and getting your personal brand out.

Its bloody hard work doing things on your own. I really lucked out with this aero company as it happened they had a need and I was looking to leave, I have no idea who my 2nd client would be (if any)
