Let's see, the Yankees committed the greatest collapse in sports history against their rivals. One out away from sweeping the series, they choke and lose an unprecedented four straight to allow the Sox to win the World Series for the first time since 1918.

Curt Schilling beat them on one and a half ankles.

The Yankees have paid $200 million dollars the last 3 years for a division title.

They're a declining team full of geriatrichs and have little to no farm system.

the greatest collapse in sports history (besides Mike Tysons career)will always be the 1978 red sox, because that was a 12 game difference and lasted a whole month long. The 04 Yankees were a choke, but no more of a choke than the 03 Red Sox (or the 03 Cubs for that matter).

How is it a choke to have Javier Vasquez and (39 year old) Kevin Brown on the mound against a heavy lineup like the Sox? Its simple, the Red Sox were the better team (as I was stating before the 2004 playoffs even started). The Yankees lost 4 straight games including to two future HOFers in Pedro and Schill, how is that more embarassing than (for example) blowing a 35-3 lead against the Bills in the playoffs or losing to Joe Namoth after being 17 point favorites in the superbowl. Or everything the Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks have done in the playoffs over the last 10 years.

by saying the Yankees 04 was a chokejob is basically saying the Red Sox weren't as good of a team and therefore don't deserve any credit for winning the world series; as it was all the Yankees loss. You cant have it both ways dude

with the last 10 years, I can forgive the Yankees for not beating the Sox last year, I've already lived more happy sports moments than you'll see in your lifetime :D

its just too bad the jets and knicks dont give me any hope :(

The Red Sox were the best team, but that doesn't mean the Yankees were shit either. One out away from losing, and then they beat the Yankees three straight times. Never done before in baseball. NEVER.

How was Tysons' career a worse flop than the Yanks last year?

I agree with everything you said BR.. no doubt... but come on.. was it necessary to bring in Mike Tyson into the picture?

now just the fact that hes getting a fight schedueled for June is making headlines on ESPNEWS, thats pretty sad compared to where he was at before the Holyfield incident

let me take one of your own quotes:

"They're a declining team full of geriatrichs and have little to no farm system."

Stop being ambigous about this, one second you make it sound like the Yankees are garbage and the next second you act like they lost to an inferior team and that the Red Sox weren't actually responsible for anything. Which one is it?

Yeah I know.. but most athletes go from top of the world, to near nothing.

While I do agree that he should call it quits, he's still accomplished a lot in the time he was at the top of his game.

One thing I will say against him, is that the dude should've been a hell of a lot smarter with his money.. I mean wtf.. who needs a pet tiger....
