I was recently told that I had something called a Cervical erosion, anyway the Dr was hoping it would go away on it's own, but it turns out that it hasn't and it is causing me a lot of pain, i have constant period pain in my lower back and other sysptoms. Anyway it turns out that I also have abnormal cells (this showed up on a smear test, it can be an early sign of cervical cancer) and i have to go and see a gynaecologist, which i am really really dreading! ( I have to have the erosion treated and the abnornal cells lasered ) :(

Has anyone ever been to a gynaecologist? What happens at one? I am really dreading it :(

I have tried looking on the internet, but no luck

oh u poor thing! hopefully u'll be alright. i know i's easy to say but try not to excessively worry about it. it will only fuck ur head up and that is the worst think that u could do to urself in this situation.
i'm sorry i can't be of any more help to u love. good luck with everything.

gynecologist? the doctor who checks female sexual body parts? if that, yes i went. if not, well cant help you.

I've never been to one, but I saw a similar kind of doctor and it was fine. They are professionals so I am sure they will treat you and your body with respect. My mum has had to see a gynaecologist a fair bit lately, some kind of abnormality.. but I dont exactly ask her how it went, lol. Good luck though, hope its all fine.

(Side note, there is some chubby girl on the computer adjacent to me stuffing her face with lollies or chips or something... its pissing me off, I cant concentrate with her chewing in the corner of my eye. Stop eating chubby!!!)

LOLLLL

so i'm right about my gynecologist description or not?????

hmm Hi,
I dont expect many of you guys know me in here..
I have actually been to one and it was not too bad. I guess it depends on the person and yes, initially you might have a few apprehensions - however i wouldn't worry about it. For me, It was fine ...the doctor was really nice and i guess because they have seen so many people and been and done that thing a lot of times, they know how hard it is for some people and are usually quite understanding... Mine actually kept talking to me the whole time - just general chit-chat, so i wasn't embarrased, had time to get upset about it or anything... before i knew it my appointments always seemed to be over.
but if you wanna know more - I would be happy to let you know.
I hope everything goes well for you, take care

I am not as scared about the examination as i am of the treatment, that is the part i am dreading, it sounds horrible, ( i mean lasering ouch! lol)

ahhh... well dont know about the treatment. cant really help you with that, never had treatman. my gynecologist was cool, was my 1st time she was explaining me everything and making me feel comfortable. she was cool.

Yeah, my feelin would be that you would have a local anaesthetic, so it will numb... so I guess - it will probably feel pretty painless and you wont feel any discomfort hardly at all.

Well my appointment was yesterday, what a waste of time it was! I was in there for 5 mins. he didn't even examine me, he just reffered me to a hospital (40miles away from where i live!!) for treatment, fucking waste of time, he wouldn't even give me anythingh for the pain and am now going to have to wait about another 3 months until i am treated. The NHS is a fucking joke, I was fuming

I know it is so shit, i am out health service over here is a joke! there was no point seeing him, they should have just got me an appointment at the hospital straight away!!!

oh well i go on holiday tomorrow, will take my mind off it
