I am back

In case anyone is wondering what I have been doing here is what I put down on my blurp on myspace. It explains it as much as words can. I have plenty of pictures though.

I spent the last 10 months of my life in Americorps NCCC. For those who do not know what that is think of a domestic peace corps. During those ten months I met some of the greatest people I have known. I fell in love and made life long friendships from fourth street all the way to second street. In those ten months I worked on long island doing enviromental work. We worked in the South Bronx where we were assistant teachers at P.S. 32 and ran an after school program in Twin Parks, the project housing we lived in. Then I went to Albany, NY and built a house with habitat for humanity. After that the hurricane season came. I first was sent to Florida to put blue tarps up after Dennis hit. Then we got word Katrina was coming towards the Gulf. I was sent to Alabama a day before the storm and after the storm hit my crew of 19 was sent to Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi to work with the red cross, right in the path of the eye. Those three weeks I spent in Mississippi forever changed me. It was unreal being there and helping out. I know everyone wishes they could have been there but I was blessed by being able to be there and help. I saw the best and worse of mankind and nature there. Words really can not explain. After my three weeks in the Gulf I went to Maine to work at Camp Sunshine which is a camp for children with terminal illness and their families. That was also very life changing. I had worked with children before but never dying children. It was scary but towards the end I had forgot the kids were sick. They were the most amazing children I have ever worked with. My time in Maine was cut short when I got the call to go work in Louisana putting blue tarps on damaged houses again. After there weeks there I finally made it back to Maryland for our last two weeks, which as all my perry pointers can tell you was just a crazy time. I am finally home now but not for long. I will be going back to Perry Point to be a Team Leader for NCCC Class XII
