Where do Police Officers come from? Are they from another country, or maybe another city? Nope they are people from the community, so with the good you might find some bad people aswell.

I have a lot of respect for cops. Whilst some may abuse their power and enjoy the "power trip," the majority do not...and besides, how is that different to any other profession? People abuse their positions in all manner of fields. I'm going to be a lawyer - most people go on about how lawyers are corrupt liars who can never be trusted. Never have any of lawyers I know been like that, or have the people around me ever come across anyone like that, although, no doubt a small minority do manipulate the system for the betterment of themselves and their clients.

And we do need police. Most of their work goes un-noticed or is not fully appreciated. If we did not have then, however, I'm sure we would appreciate the stability and safety they provide. I dare say the people who have criticised them, would not have the courage, strength, awareness or concern for society to undertake the phenomenal job that our police officers do.

As for Amara & groobz, I agree police are needed & that most aren't crooked but, people's personal experience with police will dictate how they view so you can't really begrudge people their chance to vent.

Anyway, at least half of the police, in my area, are shitbags. They get a call about a car crash or some shit & they'll rush to the scene. If they get a call about someone being chased down the street by a knife-wielding maniac they tend to be slow to get there & put their life on the line.

Also, the police, in my area, take free shit. For example, they'll go into a Chinese takeaway & order shit but when they get handed it they just walk out (without paying). Although doesn't happen is regularly as it used, they do have a crtain way of exploiting foreigners.

I'm not begrudging anyone the chance to vent, but I certainly think they should put things in perspective. I mean, imagine a world without the law and order that the beaucratic branches provide. I think it is a great shame that people have had bad experiences with the police....consider this though, it is not the police who are really at fault, instead it is the minority of persons out there who are breaking the rules, committing offences and placing themselves and others at risk of danger and death - isn't it these people who are trully at fault? Not the persons doing their best efforts to keep our communities safe.

I believe that some cops are decent enough, and generally want to better the world and serve justice. BUT, there's a lot of bent cops out there as well. For instance, its hard in the UK to like the cops if you're a ethnic minority as we seem to be targets. Let me give u an example, Stephen Lawrence. He was killed in a racial attack by a group of white men, and although there was enough evidence to convict the guys, they got away with it. The police envolved in the case have been criticised that they didn't do all that they could have to convict- there's loads of info on this case if u guys wana read up on it. There was even a documentary which showed two of the men being held in custody and a secret camera filmed them boasting about what they did- but the evidence was not used in the original case and they couldn't put the men on trial for the same case.

Again, there was another documentary a while back showing how a black man was arrested for being in a fight in a club (east london i think), but once he was bought to the police station, they handcuffed his arms behind his back, layed him faced down on the floor and had his pants down- all of this was filmed on tape! He was half conscious at this time from the wounds from the the fight on his head. He died shortly after still faced down on the floor and the police didn't seem to care. (This has opened up an investigation)

Its things like this that make u think fuck the pheds- they're not all fair and just.

I agree there is a lot of nasty cops out there , and for any ethnic minoritys i can understand the hatred they have for the police , the stephen lawrence thing is disgusting and in no way do i condone it , but there are good policemen out there who realy want to help the community and unfortunatly there actions are over shadowed by the bad things that definatly go on . however there are some nasty criminals out there and this should not be forgoten , there is bad in all walks of life not just in the police force .
