2Pac verse two: Holla At Me

Curious spittin' lyrics
on the verge of furious
as I'm addicted to currency
Nigga that's why we're doin’ this
got shot up
I surprised them niggaz the way I got up and then
I hit the studio
It's time to blow the block up
No hesitation
this information got you contemplatin'
heartbreakin' eliminatin' with this conversation
break ‘em and let ‘em see the face of a mental patient
a celebration, of my criminal elevation
want participation, of my members across the fifty states
we’ll keep the nation anticipatin' until we break
will I be great, is it my fate
to live a life of luxury
so niggaz buy my tape
so much jealousy it scares me
so be prepared
cause only the strong survive
life isn't fair (fair)
you probably never knew the way it feels to die
so you sick and fuck with me
I give that answer a try
Nigga, Holla at me

if you know me, even i know lyrics sites can be wrong, this is why i criticize tupacs lyrics like this. cross reference mine with this ...

If you want to be so spot on, I suggest you learn how bars work. That is what I hate about lyric sites.

That particular verse is 16 lines long, not 26.

Also, it's "Ill give that ass a try" not "answer a try." You also wrote some minor other errors, Ive fixed them for you and written the lyrics out in the correct way and the way Pac would have structured them when he wrote them.

My bad.

I do still question the following as being correct:

"you probably never knew the way it feels to die
so you sick and fuck with me I give that answer a try"

Pac is saying you don't know how it feels to die, in the first line, to his enemies; and he is saying in the second line that if you fuck with him he would answer their question on how it feels to die. In other words he will kill them. This is my interpretation and it makes perfect sense for me. It sounds more thuggish than saying I give that ass a try.

You are right in that pac wrote 16 lines to a verse, that is his system.. And lyric sites don't display that. Pac would get a page with lines on, write the numbers 1-8 down the left hand side with each number taking up two lines, often each number was in rhyme or rhythm.

man i love this verse, str8 fire! hard song to rap along to the words r krazy

It may be hard, but you have to get your tongue around it.

I modify your lyrics Ruk to my interpretation

Bomb ass verse

^^ It is not answer, it is ass. "Answer" does not make sense and it does not fit the syllable structure of the bars at all, you cant argue this one Yeshua it is like arguing maths. 2 plus 2 does equal four. This isnt open to interpretation.

He's saying he'll give them a try, a chance, to fuck with him if they really want to, as in, "come on give me your best shot", so they should holla at him.

Answer simply does not fit the musical structure of the verse and Pac was a better musician and writer than to force an extra syllable in where it does not fit.

I give that ass a try

I am outvoted on this one, I am not trying to argue, just debating on what is. I read "I'd give that answer a try" on some lyric site and thought it fitted into what he was saying about how it feels to die. This site musta have been wrong and is the reason I made the thread in the first place.

also ...

I would have posted this in the Tupac and his pen thread (if woody didn't close it) to prove to other people that Tupac rapped about his pen and not a penitentiary. People saying that I post off the wall opinions without proof or evidence to back them up. Well, take a listen to When I get Free - 3rd verse. Tupac raps "stuck in my cell, the Pen ain't nothing like the county jail" - right there he says the Pen is not the county jail. :P:D

LMAO. are you serious? yes, i see you are. well i guess i should explain to you that a county jail is NOT the same as a penitentiary. a penitentiary is a federal prison where you end up if you are convicted of federal crimes (murder, rape, drug distribution, etc.). the county jail is where you get locked up for minor crimes. there are also state prisons too. hence the pen ain't nothing like the county jail cuz the pen is much harder time with harder convicts. i don't know how you could not know this. LOL.

Penitentiary and county jail have similar meanings, they are both prisons. This makes their meanings synonymous. 'The pen ain't nothing like the county jail' - Pac is saying the pen has nothing to do with a jail.

I see that. But it can't be said that a penitentiary isn't a jail. Unless Tupac considered his confinement to the pen as a sentence!

I'm not saying the pen isn't a jail, but it is a different type of jail to the county jail, which makes the comparison valid.
