KRS aint full of shit. He's a legend in the game. You gotta respect his views on hip hop cuz he's been doing it since like 7 said we were half sperm half egg. What he's saying makes sense. Does that mean you have to use his definition of emcee and rapper as an universal definition, no not necissarily. But you gotta give him his props for being oneof the heads that can actually speak on something like that cuz of his experience.

And to me, Kanye, and lil wayne are both just rappers according to KRS's definition of one. But according to that definition its hard to have a major record deal and still be an emcee. According that, generally u gotta be underground or independent to be an emcee, or atleast thats how i'm looking at it.

Anyways it aint like what KRS said was the word of God, its just his opinion, and it just so happens that when it comes to hip hop, i respect his a bit more than some others

Number 1 was a lead single from the Training Day soundtrack ofcourse its gonna get heard, Real Hip-Hop wasn't even recorded until a few months after KRS initially performed it as he used to when he did gigs/live shows. Today's hip-hop culture doesn't exist, the real hip-hop culture disappeared after 1997 and got scattered through out the UG.

Emcee's (MC, Master of the Ceremony) have been around since the 20's man. When certain people would entertain the crowds before the bands came up by either doing melodies or just saying things like "put your hands up and clap". Then there's James Brown the 1st real emcee, rhyming on songs unlike no other previously. Rapper's Delight was a massive single and hit. it was a huge founding block to hip-hop. But their was songs before it in the form of Afrika Bambaataa and DJ Kool Herc, with the emcee coming out to entertain the crowd before those legendary DJ's hit the set. (I suggest you check the DVD "The MC").

Whats an out-dated definition of hip-hop? A DJ? An MC? A Graf artist and a B-Boy/Breaker? Not forgetting clothing, block parties and other things that came along with those 4 elements. How are they out-dated? It's mostly the same, only a few MC's can actually grab the attention of a crowd and move it these days as compared to the rapper who spits his shit and bumps on out.

KRS doesn't think he is the future man. He gives as many props as anyone, Bis? Props. Wu? Props. Pac? Props. Big? Props. His statements are more so aimed at the Chingy's and 50 Cent's.
