Film & TV HBO Original Series

#1
HBO has to have one of the best (if not THE best) track records for creating new series', with all of the great shows, past & present. Besides being home to my favorite series of all time, Oz, it also is home to my favorite series on tv right now, Deadwood. What HBO can get away with is all due to the fact that they don't have to sacrifice anything because they're not on a major network like NBC, ABC, or CBS, and that's what I love. Pure, unapologetic (sp?), raw series. Here's a list of past & present HBO series I either own on tape, DVD, or watch religiously:

Band of Brothers (Miniseries)
Carnivale
Da Ali G Show
Deadwood
The Larry Sanders Show
Mr. Show
Oz (!!!!!!!!!!)
The Sopranos
Tales From the Crypt
Tenacious D (shortlived series)

Not to mention shows like Arli$$, Autopsy, Dream On, Entorage, Six Feet Under, and The Wire, which I've caught on many occasions. I haven't been able to get into their new series, Rome, and I never really liked Curb Your Enthusiasm or Sex in the City, but the good thing about HBO, is that it seems they'll try almost ANYTHING at least once, so there's always something different on that network.

I remember seeing Autopsy for the first time, and I was so disgusted, but I couldn't look away, fascinating show. I like the background stories, too. I remember there being a story about a mother who kept killing her infant children, because she had a psychological glitch where she craved attention and sympathy, crazy.

I'd watch Real Time, except for the fact that Bill Maher is a hypocrite, even moreso than Bill O'Reilly, IMO. Matter of fact, I wonder if HBO would fund a show about shipping those two off to an island and having them build their own seperate fucked-up societies, ALA Lord of the Flies, then eventually kill each other. I'd actually watch that.

True to the fact that HBO be putting out the best shows but it is a lot easier to make a good show when you have to worry about nothing like censorship and corporate whatever bullshit. But yeah, go HBO.

How could you not like Curb Your Enthusiasm?
That's my favorite show next to the Sopranos!

curb your enthusiasm is a great show. i love it. cant wait for the new season. i dont understand how people dont like it. the only reason i have come up with is the show is just too smart for some people.

has anyone seen "rome"? i've been wanting to watch it but i haven't taken the time to check it out.
