If you really care about your mother, show her love EVERY day not a one single day.
And you don't have to go out and "generate income for corporations" (like you don't already...), it's just a day to show your appreciation for your mother; make her breakfast in bed, buy her some flowers (you can get them from a little local flower shop, if you're such an anti-capitalist) and let her put her feet up for the day.
