This got me thinking about the people who were really a part of the HitEmUp/StreetHop legacy.

To the people who think Traz were gay: we all know it's just the internet, Traz is a running gag that you pretend to take serious for the sake of comedy. Things like that create the entire atmosphere of the message board. Otherwise you just have members who log in once a month to ask a question and post maybe once. Go with it or shut up. Hi!

This thread would probably work best if you actually put in the effort to create a list. This is where Preach comes in handy.

Indeed, Traz was one of best things about this forum a few years back, the exclusives were hilarious and the members were pretty cool bar one or two.

I've been here since 2000/2001 but i mostly lurked during the early years. I was under the s/n SoulReaver13 but then in 2002 i created a new s/n and it's the one i use up until now.

But I don't know what you mean by OGs, like people who were there back then and posted or people who influenced the era?

yeah i havent been here long to be an "OG" or anything but i put myself under new generation...ive been here since 2005...but i was browsing hitemup since 2002 (without any account to the forum and with no clue how to use internet forums lol)..which doesn't really count....but yeah...im the new generation

i originally joined early 03, and mainly kept myself in the Show Ya Flow section, which was really on fire back then. eventually got banned, then rejoined in 05.

Alcatraz can't exist in a present day internet (also known as Web 2.0). Alcatraz made noise because it was easy for us to expose people. The creation of MySpace and similar social sites made this harder because more and more people were putting out information about themselves. Before MySpace, it wasn't common place for people to post pictures of themselves. And the prime era of Alcatraz dominance (2000-2003) thrived off the extensive research we'd go through to find pictures (generally unflattering) of board members. Back then, only a select few people showed their face. A great example of this is that I don't think most of the board knew what Rukas looked like until about '03 when he posted a scan of some local magazine he was in.

As I said, Traz's prime years were between 2000 and 2003. MySpace nearly ended us. I tried reinventing Traz by producing other means of entertainment like the round table discussions. In my eyes, those are still gems and I can listen to them to this day and still laugh my ass off. Unfortunately, most of the Traz members slowly faded away and it killed future round table discussions I had planned. I tried the same format with members outside of Traz, but it's not nearly the same--especially without the key to it's success--Uncle Traz. I'd still love to try a new round table discussion in the near future, but it's hard to organize something like that. DarkPhantom is the sole factor in it, he's been trying to get me to organize it. And that's good 'cause I need that push.

But unless all of my original Traz comrades come back: Bino, Shed, Flipp, Frog, Skillz, etc...then Traz is officially dead. These dudes were the core. We had the same warped sense of humor, we were all alike and it worked perfectly. Not one person can have more influence over another.
