Half A Mill pt 2

#2
Brooklyn-based rapper Half-a-Mill climbed his way up from the underground in the late '90s and nearly broke into the mainstream. His initial breakthrough came in 1997 with an appearance on the one and only album by the Firm, a highly touted supergroup featuring Nas, AZ, Nature, and Foxy Brown alongside producers Dr. Dre and the Trackmasters. Following this high-profile appearance, Half-a-Mill then contributed "Some Niggaz" to the Def Jam-released Belly soundtrack in 1998, setting the stage for his solo debut, "Thug Ones." The momentous track, which featured Noreaga, Kool G Rap, and Musolini, sent ripples through the New York hardcore rap scene in 1999 and became the leadoff single for Half-a-Mill's debut album, Million. Unfortunately, the album, released in 2000, didn't do as well as many had expected, moving only about 40,000 units -- a respectable number yet not quite on a par with the big boys -- and the Brooklyn rapper lost much of his momentum. He returned two years later in 2002 with his second effort, Da Hustle Don't Stop, which Warlock Records had preceded with the release of "Still." With its defiant hook, this radio-serviced single took aim at those who claim Half-a-Mill had fallen off: "Still gangsta/still ghetto/still street." ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

T.JONES: "Half-A-Mill recently was shot and killed. Do you have any comments?"
KOOL G RAP: "I did a record with him. 'Thug Ones', produced by The Neptunes with Noreaga. I heard he passed away. We were cool. I didn't know him that well. When he was doing his album, he just had a respect and love for G Rap. He wanted me to do a feature on his album and I was glad to do that, as with any other young rappers coming up. When they pay homage like Half-A-Mill did, I will be more than honored to work with them."

thats all i could find

Half-A-Mill was an aspiring rapper from Brooklyn. His career started in 97 when he was featured on a track with the group “The Firm” (Nas, Az, Foxy Brown; Nature) and then later on with his track "Some Niggaz" on The Belly soundtrack, released in 98.

After those appearances, Half-A-Mills solo album, titled "Million”, was released in 2000. That album contained his biggest hit "Thug Ones” featuring rappers like Noreaga and Kool G Rap. Even though the album didn’t move mad units (thanks to no support from TV/Radio) Half-A-Mill got his respect in the New York hardcore rap scene.

After taking a 2 years break he came back to the scene with his second solo album “Da Hustle Don’t Stop”. While Half-A-Mill was working on his third album, that would be released trough Warlock Records, he was found shot to death in his apartment in the Albany projects. He was survived by his wife and two sons.
