Wut, Biggie,Outkast and Eminem outsold 2pac? I thought they were never as popular. Maybe Eminem but Outkast and Biggie? I don't really know many people who ever listened to them.
It's just artists who have sold 10 million copies of their album... Or I'm guessing 5 million copies of a double album.
Just an observation... But they were all double albums, apart from The Eminem Show and The MM LP. Both of which actually sold 10 Million + copies.

I don't know, I always assumed that 2pac was the most popular rapper in America so I expected him to sell the most. There's a different audience for Eminem or Outkast though, I guess.
Outkast and BIG haven't sold anywhere NEAR as many records as Pac, overall.
This "Diamond" certification is only domestic (US-only). Worldwide sales, it's been at 15million+ for YEARS, so has "All Eyez On Me".
When I went to Johnny J's studio, he had a plaque for All Eyez On Me that was for 9 million sales, and that was from the early 00's. and I believe that was a domestic one also.
Tupac has sold about 40 million records just in the US - I would guess that's for the most part, AEOM + Greatest Hits + MATW + 7 Day Theory.
In 2007, worldwide sales for Pac were at 75 million. Eminem is the only rapper above Tupac, with an estimated 86 million worldwide sales. (and kids, that is the power of movies for you. NO WAY would Eminem be at that level without '8 Mile')
The next closest hip-hop artists are the Black Eyed Peas at 56 million, and then Jay-Z with 50 million.

its just for one album and in the US only. so not hard to believe that Ready to Die or Life After Death went diamond. which Outkast album went diamond in the US though? my guess would be Speakerbox/ Love Below.

I think it's more to do with Hip-Hop being far more popular now than in 1992-1996. Eminem helped that with his white face. Especially in the UK. 2pac wasn't that popular here to pop music fans, eminem is.
Also, Tupac starred in more movies than Eminem.
Basically, although Eminem is a very good rapper. Being white has been an advantage in regards to record sales.
Yes, but none of the movies Tupac did were specifically ABOUT him. That's the difference. And it's hard to say if hip-hop is more popular now. And yeah, he totally sold more records because of his race, that is very true. But the movie DID propel him to new heights. A good rock opera made as a vehicle for the artist will always do that, it's the "Purple Rain" effect.
You also need to realize Amaru doesn't get every album re-certified every year. Pac's albums sales are way higher only problem is that Amaru doesn't put the money to certify them hence why some figures haven't changed in the last 10 years.
