I noticed you can't start one on the phone which kind of sucks. And nope not yet, need to purchase a new one and nothing is catching my eye yet.

I would assume that that's for scaling purposes, because as soon as they enable starting a hangout from your phone, obviously everybody's gonna try it straight away. This way they can iron out the bugs before that happens.

the app is no longer available for HTC Wildfire and a bunch of other previously supported devices. They are working on fixing the issue, as something was supposedly added to the source code that made it incompatible for those devices ever since the new release.
