I'm hoping that at this years event they introduce Google Play Music store access for the rest of the world. I think it's about time they lifted the restriction on US-only access. I'm waiting to buy some music, and I want it to be 320kbps and be within my 'unlimited storage' - so Google Music it is for me. I purchased an EP in the past using TunnelBear and I got it slightly cheaper but then got charged for using my card abroad. Still cheaper though.

Rest of the World access + Gift card vouchers in shops will help propel sales and compete more aggressively with iTunes.

The ASUS tablet will be announced. I'm looking to get this, so awaiting more details on this one.

It's a 3 day event this year :D 27th, 28th and 29th :)

There is surely a lot to cover. It's been 9 months since ICS was announced. And there was stuff being worked on for ICS that didn't make the cut. So actually there's probably been near enough an entire year of active development on Android that we'll see in Jelly Bean. Exciting times.

There'll also likely be major announcements for Chrome, Chrome OS, Google Play, Google TV. The Nexus tablet. Google Maps, Google Drive, Google+. and YouTube. Hopefully a Project Glass update. (I think that's really a potential gamechanger). And of course, some new things we don't know about yet.

Larry Page become CEO of Google in April 2011. So last year at IO (which was in May) we really didn't see anything that reflected on his strategy. It was too early. In business, you have "wartime" CEO's and "peacetime" CEO's. Eric Schmidt was a good peacetime CEO - during his years as CEO, Google was largely able to operate and have it's interests and revenue streams bloom peacefully.

Now Google is at war from many angles, and basically all because of the success of Android. Larry has been making some very aggressive and defensive "wartime" CEO moves over the last year and I think this year's events will be the most intense to date.

Last year tickets for the two-day event were $450 and that included three pieces of hardware given to every attendee - a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, a Samsung Chromebook and a Verizon LTE Hotspot.

This year the tickets price has doubled to $900 for a three day event, and it still sold out in record time. My guess is that attendees will likely be given a tablet, a phone and a new generation chromebook. Maybe a GTV box too.
