Ghostface

Supposely Ghostface Killah said something like sampling killed hip hop, the music isnt oringinal anymore and he was complaing about it. If he did say this then this is comin from the same guy who has songs like Holla and Big Girl where he just took the whole entire song and rapped over it, wtf, lol.

He didn't say it in that context. He meant record labels are charging way too much to be able to get the rights to sample tracks now, because Hip-Hop's popularity has grown so much. Therefore most hip-hop tracks from New York have problems getting released in their original form because of sampling problems. That's why New York's sound has disappeared.

"sampling killed hip-hop" is like saying "sex ruined porn".

truth.

the best hiphop tracks are all built around samples, it's all about being creative with the sample.

hiphop with no samples is mostly boring and monotonous, especially since the majority of hiphop producers can't play instruments.

i think this calls for a favorite samples thread, although i cant be bothered to make it right now.
