Well, my dell laptop has been dying in the past few weeks and it's so close i can just hear it's last breaths. But i was growing tired of it anyway, it was my companion for the last 4 years and now it's time to bury and move on.

So i was thinking of getting myself a powerbook for a few reasons. Well, my desktop is a normal PC which i'll upgrade soon enough but for media editing (i work with movies, music and photos) a mac is ideal. Plus i can play word rage :p

I'm getting a 17 inch powerbook for $2000AU ($1460 US) and i think it's the 1.33Ghz with 1gig ram and blah...

Is it worth it?

i have the same powerbook and love it. some people dont like the OSX but i think its great... plus you can get Virtual PC and run your Windows on Mac.

They are expensive but i always think of it like PC=Ford Focus. Mac=Acura NSX. :D

have fun

Speaking about virtual PC I was looking through my closet and found a copy of virtual PC for windows 95. It's been years since I have used Virtual PC. My sister has a powerbook and loves it, I introduced here to the mac's years ago and the funny thing is now I use only PC and she is the mac fanatic. Call's me a traitor lol.

power books are excelent, a little pricy and very finicky when it comes to hardware and software, other than that they have fantastic battery life.

Ok, i've got the specs
It's a Powerbook 1.33 with 1 gig of RAM (not 512 which is standard) and 100GB HDD (compared to 80 on standard) and a superdrive (CDR, DVD R etc) everything else is standard

All the software i need on it will come with it. latest OS, final cut, photoshop, music editing software and so much more (since these are the major reasons i'm getting a mac). and yeah... should be fun.

hahahaha menace... it's one of the reasons :p
but i do alot of work with Graphic Design, video and movie editing and music editing and shit. And my home laptop could barely handle photoshop let alone adobe premier/audition. And mac's are brilliant for music and video editing.
