America did win World War II. But let's examine what winning means. In my definition, America won because the Allies, which America was a part of, won. America won because it bombed the shit out of Japan and Japan soon after surrendered. America won because, aside from Pearl Harbor, it suffered no damage on its land. After World War II, it was easier for America to prosper because Japan and a lot of European nations had to rebuild themselves, and thanks to the Marshall plan of course. Did Britain win WWII? How did London look in 1945? Yeah, shut the fuck up lol.

America's whole economic strength started with WWII. Britain just finished paying off it's loan from America recently. Considering the main factor in WWII was Adolf Hitler and he was based in the middle of Europe, America wasn't going to receive any damage. America wasn't on Hitler's radar. I am pretty sure if Hitler got nuked in 1939 he would have surrendered and we could be claiming the same. Mussolini was based in Europe, Stalin was in Europe. See the location factors? America won from WWII, yes. But they didn't win World War II.

The Soviets declared war on Japan a few days after the nuclear bomb was dropped, and they then invaded Manchuria. More and more academics are pointing to the idea of Japan facing a 2 front war with the Russians/Americans as more of a reason for their surrender than the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan was willing to fight to the bitter end after the two drops. The main reason why Japan supposedly surrendered to the United-States is mostly due to the idea that the USA would offer better terms of surrender than the Soviets. So, no - it was not an American victory - they played a part in it, but they were not the main reason for it all. There is even documentation to point out the fact that Americans believed that Japan wouldn't surrender and a "mass invasion" a la Normandie was planned for Japan if it came to that.
The point is that America didn't do much to win the war, they barely fought it and most people here would make a point that they only did because/when they became threatened. They came in after some of world war's harshest battles when the situation has been in Allied forces favor already. They basically helped, contributed to the victory from far away during the last phases of the world war. They usually arrived to fight where they could have easy victories too.

Just because America didn't play the main part in the victory against the Axis powers doesn't mean it wasn't victorious. To say otherwise is ludicrous.
I know what Flip is saying and what Masta is saying. However, the US emerged as a winner regardless if it wasn't the main reason for victory. We're differing on definitions of winning. Some of you seem to have a very precise, primitive definition of what winning is.
But to get back to Prize Gotti's original comment. There's no large propaganda in the US when it comes to the Allies' victory in WWII. We're not taught that the US was the sole reason for winning, lol. This is another one of Prize Gotti's twisted claims about America because he "lived here for some time". Of course, since we live in the US, the students will be exposed more to what the US did as opposed to others because that's how things work in middle school and high school due to limited time in classes and so forth. You learn about your own country's part in wars. It's no different in other countries. If one is to get a more specific picture of what each country's part was, there's always history classes to take in college. Education doesn't stop in middle school and high school lol.
