I saw you mention that earlier. Sucks. What causes that? I don't have an xbox but I've heard it's a common complaint. You have a warranty or insurance or are you gonna have to splash out on a new machine?

yeah that's not that terrible anymore as there's usually a 36 month warranty for this and they give you a new console within a few days. My friend got it with a HDD and a new pad for free (he had Arcade version before).

Rang microsoft (terrible machine service, fuck me, it told me seven times to register my repair at service.xbox.com before letting me speak to someone, but that site wouldn't let me change my address to australia which is why I rang in the first place).

Am sending the machine back tomorrow even though it is out of warranty and they're fixing it for me for free, said it could take up to ten working days That's a lot of MW2 and streaming movies to miss out on.

I've had the same problem, twice. And both times my warranty had expired but they still repaired it for free, the second time they just sent me a brand new xbox with a complementary voucher for one month's free xbox live gold membership.
Didn't take too long to get my console back once I had sent it, just under a week which is quite rapid considering it had to be shipped to Germany and back.

Yeah even outside the warranty they will still fix it cos they want you to buy more XBL subscriptions, buy new games and purchase points. If they didnt, you're unlikely to buy another 360 cos you don't want the same to happen again, so you're likely to go for the competition.

Also after several law suits due to previous hardware faults, they are doing their best to avoid further cases.

PS3 also fail but Xbox360 fail rate is higher. After all for some reason Japanese engineers know how to do something properly. Xbox360 is full of stupid ideas that make it fail often. It's not as often as haters make it but way more often than it should.

most my friends who bought a 360, their sytem broke down multiple times. my brother bought a brand new 360 from the store broken(during the launch time). the controller wouldnt connect. i know neither consol is perfect but lets be real, 360s failure rate so much higher than ps3 that you cant ever compare it.
