I read this story knowing it would leave a sour taste in my mouth, once again we have conservatives trying to rework definitions to suit there needs. while at the same time doing what they do best trying to limit freedoms and detour people from expressing there opposition of the status quo.

King George would be so proud!

WHITE HOUSE SPOKESMAN: WHAT IS A REPORTER?
Thu Feb 10 2005 20:49:03 ET

White House spokesman Scott McClellan On Thursday challenged liberal media activists, who are currently feigning outrage over events surrounding "Jeff Gannon," to examine the definition of reporter in the new century.

"In this day and age, when you have a changing media, it's not an easy issue to decide or try to pick and choose who is a journalist. It gets into the issue of advocacy journalism," McClellan said.

"Where do you draw the line? There are a number of people who cross that line in the briefing room.

"There are a number of people in that room that express their points of view, and there are people in that room that represent traditional media, they represent talk radio, they're columnists, and they represent online news organizations."

In this day and age, when you have a changing media

Wow. That's scaring. Remembers me of the nazis a lil, I think they used the same statments to control the media later for the propaganda.

The media should have complete freedom of speech.

I went through my views on this in another thread regarding some lobbying for a reporter to be punished for exposing certain mlitary plans & I can't really be bothered going through all of it again but I will say that, the media have a responsibility to release information & should not be stopped from doing so.

By the same token, the media should be able to see when it is not appopriate to divulge sensitive information.

And I agree with what The.Menace said & would like to add that suppressing the media in any way - directly or indirectly - is yet another nail in the facist coffin which currently holds America.
