Steorn completes jury selection to test magnet motor

Steorn announces that they have selected twelve jury members composed of scientists and academics to test its free energy technology. More than 5000 people applied, and 492 were determined to be "qualified scientists/engineers."

DUBLIN, IRELAND -- Steorn, a technology development company, has announced that it has completed its selection process for appointing twelve scientists to an independent jury that will test its free energy technology, which it reported to PESN in August to be an all-magnet motor.

Steorn issued the challenge via an advertisement in the Economist to the world’s scientists in August 2006 and received more than 5,000 responses by the deadline of 12 midnight, September 8th. The site presently states that 492 "qualified scientists/engineers" applied. Twelve of those have been selected.

Steorn’s technology allegedly is based on the interaction of magnetic fields to allow the production of clean, free and constant energy. They say the technology can be applied to virtually all devices requiring energy, from cellular phones to cars.

Steorn will complete the signing of contracts with the chosen scientists by Friday December 1st at the latest.

Sean McCarthy, CEO of Steorn, commented: "We have been thrilled by the excellent response we received as a result of our challenge. We are now confident that we have found the most qualified scientists and we are looking forward to the start of the validation process itself." At least the most qualified who were willing to be on the jury.

Steorn anticipates that testing will begin early in the New Year. The precise timetable for the testing phase will be determined by the jurors, as will the location and format of the test process. Once the testing is complete the results will be made public via the Steorn website www.steorn.com.

....

if the jury validates the claims made, it will change everything around us. although it violates some of physics' fundamental assumptions, plenty of scientists/skeptics seemed eager to get on that jury. perhaps this is because there could be something going on with magents that we have not discovered. it was certainly not for the fame, the jurors are unnamed as of yet, and realistically, they will not get more than a back-page mention in the paper if the testing finds the technology to be unsuccessful in demonstrating the claims made.

i reported your post. im very accepting of these gifs/pics people post (when they're funny or insulting), but your attempt to be 'cool' is pathetic. you didnt write anything.
there are a select few on this board who can pull off these kinds of things successfully, and you're not one of them.

didnt telsa claim to discover something similar? or was that something different

tesla? i just did a quick google search on this, and it seems that it's just like a solar-electric panel. the differene between this and the Steorn technology is that the latter does not need any input at all. tesla's thingy requires the sun's rays or something.

there have been lots of 'free energy' claims, but this one is a bit different... the company really believes that the scientists will not disprove the technology.

Hymnz you snitch, i didnt need to put anything down, its hilarious by itself! damn!!

First thing I thought of when i read the title is, Please fill out this survey to turn on this light type shit. Seems like a decent idea but energy wont be free.

Lol. Please dont report it, I dont feel like checking my emails. :p

Getting back to the subject of this thread. This is a hoax or a publicity stunt. Or possibly these guys don't even know that they don't know what they're talking about and that their machine can't do what they think it can. They are technology experts and not physicists. A magnetic force cannot do work. This follows directly from the Lorentz force law: F = q(E + v x B). I doubt any reputable scientist is part of their "panel." Taking out an Ad in The Economist is not the way to go about verifying a scientific breakthrough.

Here's a link to a few interview videos with the CEO of the company. Sounds to me like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

they have some support to back up their claims though...
here is one case:
Mark Goldes, Chairman and CEO of MIP (Magnetic Power, Inc), which is based in California, said "Our own laboratory results confirm what Steorn is saying".

could this be a publicity stunt? yes.
i do not think that the technology will be disproven.
one of two things will happen:
*it will be revealed as a publicity stunt. or
*the world will change.

the company seems extremely sure that scientists will validate what it has been claiming... so, logically, one would assume this is a publicity stunt.

i am really interested in the results of this, and it will only be a few months wait.
