I don't see education as just a means of gaining financial stability. There is more to it.

you're wrong.

i didn't make the rules...the last generation that could go w/o a college degree and become wildly successful was our parents' generation.

if you want to strive to be the best, (and who the hell wants to be just average) then you must have some sort of higher education.

and now-a-days, a bachelors degree don't mean shit! it's real hard to climb the ladder with just a bachelors degree, because your competition will be ahead of you if they earned a master degree. i.e., they start out higher on the corporate (or whatever) ladder.

can you live modestly with just a high school diploma? yes you can. but good luck getting a job without one. no one can live modestly off $12/hr. (which, btw, is much higher than minimum wage).

but again, the key is education. even if you want to be a smart-ass and say "i'm gonna slang shit, blah blah blah..." you still need to be EDUCATED to the rules of the game, etc. no one can go through life without learning shit.

I have no clue how, but you completely missed my point. I mean, completely.

For those who have incredible jobs and only have completed High School. I think we all get that 1 opportunity that comes along every once and a while where you say: 'If I do that, I can maybe make it big...' the only problem is, not everyone goes for it, due to fear of failure or whatever.

Like you Militant, you made it big in the music world, right?..but I'm sure there was this 1 break you got that helped you out in a major way.

/\ There's not really a particular moment that I can pinpoint. Everyone has their paths to choose. I chose my path from an early age and have never and will never stop walking it.

If you wanna be a doctor/lawyer...how are you going to do that without an education?

Your options are limited without an education.

Then again, if your dream career doesn't need uni/college, you shouldn't waste your time.

So it's different for everyone. Some need it, some don't.

i graduated high school, and am going to a community college rite now paying 4 it myself. not to mention i also work full time as a mortgage broker/loan officer at a bank which happens to be right across the street from my school. a job which requires no college education and can yield $100-200k in the first year. my boss has no college education and makes $350k a year doing it. not to mention he is 23 yrs old. but regardless of how much money i make i plan on getting a degree from a four year school. i dont plan on working at a mortgage bank the rest of my life, and having a college degree better equips me for the rest of my life. what im trying to say is that you dont need a college degree to be successful, but it sure will help. it depends how high your aspirations are...

p.s.... it seems like some of u left a dear john letter about the story of ur lives lol

you can do it anywhere, but its good in NY because property values are so high, and there are a lot of poor homeowners in debt. this makes a large demand for cash out and debt consildation refinances with bigger loan amounts than anywhere else. higher property values=bigger loan amounts=higher commissions.

Yeah that's what I said but people didn't comment on that lol. I have alot of respect for people here like Militant and everybody else who's showin' us how you can make it big with out an education but again... how do you become a Doctor with out going to med school? How do you become a Lawyer with out going to law school? and these aren't rare jobs at all, we have millions of Doctors and Lawyers across the world. So education does't mean success all the time, but basically with out an education don't dream of those types of careers.

actually, you're pretty lucky that your hours were in sync with your uni hours (except for 7-2pm job). That's really hard to do.

the question was directed at makeveli tho, lol :)
