This is a true story. I can't remember the year, but it was sometime in the late 90s.
Believe it or not, but your boy Pennypacker was one of the illest kids in Europe for some time. Way back, when I still lived in Europe, I lived in a small town where nothing really happened. One day, I go out and see this cool looking dude with bling bling everywhere. So my boys and I walk up to him in wooden shoes and traditional Dutch gear and ask him what's up. He looks at us like he's this dude from one of the big cities (Rotterdam, Utrecht, Amsterdam, etc.). Apparently, he's visiting someone in town.
Fast forward.
One day, we see him again and he has a yoyo. We're all staring at him in awe of what he's doing with his yoyo. Back then, ya'all gotta realize, we still using windmills and everything, so some gadget from the future like a yoyo is definitely going to impress us. Anyhow, he shows us the yoyo, and shortly thereafter, everyone buys one. It doesn't end there, everyone in the country buys one. Then some people up North hear about what we're doing so the UK goes crazy with yoyos. It was even on the news!
So, I am able to say I was one of the pioneers of the European yoyo craze of the late 90s. Some of may be too young to remember, but the OGs will remember.
