For real? That beat was the most west coast sounding beat on the album. It's some car music for a sunny day shit. It's also 50's best hook.
Well, I thought the best beat on that album besides How We Do, is Started From Scratch. Maybe you can see why I don't like hate it love it then.

This is basically a "whats the best records thus far", "what are you anticipating this year", "what new songs are you jamming" threads and self opinions mixed into one thread.

Only part I found really interesting was that book "Rakim Told Me", which I didn't know about. Give some info for us outside what you already posted beside it please.

I think 2005 was overhyped from the start but hey what year isn't? Eh. It's been and will be a mainstream orientated year but we've come half way almost and its safe to say now that 50 and Game have dropped that more records will start coming out. The start of the year was slow due to record companies not wanting to go toe to toe with Interscope considering 50Cent and The Game (whom were always gonna move units) dropping. Thats why I think it was a slow start anyways.

Kanye West, Common (very very soon now) and possibly Outkast will round the year nicely I believe with introspective music. I think most hiphop heads should be on the look out for these 3 (4 technically).

Chamillionaire, I think he may give us a gem. His my rookie of the year prediction, another producer/emcee who can go past the usual gangsta gangsta routine. Bun-B, his been loooong overdue for a solo but there's reasons behind all that. If anyone ever wanted to check out a southern act with something to say then please I suggest you start with him when he drops.

Devin Tha Dude, I expect nothing but beautiful music to blaze a fatty too. Soulful, jazz, gimme some pussy pa-leease madam influenced music. But whether is actually comes out this year or not I cannot say.

Slim Thug, well his got the Neptunes backing him so musically alot of people will check him due to the whole Pharrell association. However, im one of the few who didn't like their production on The Clipse record so hopefully they can vary their beats for him and give him something well rounded to work with.

The East has it's own sleeping giants, Raekwon's Lp is stand tall or straight fall for him. This is it, he either gives us something solid or his career will be reduced to appearences and mixtapes. Sad to say. Ghostface/MF Doom = interesting. Can't say much on it. Deck/Muggs = interesting aswell, I'll definately have a good look for this one. And ofcourse Busta Buss, hopefully he finally finds his feet. He hasn't given us (in my view) a solid start to finish record since When Disaster Strikes, even though I liked Genesis. Im gonna check Lloyd Banks record aswell, screw what a hater thinks.

What Ive been impressed with this year though is Blueprint's record 1988. I just love it. What I haven't been impressed with is Mike Jones, another Lil' Flip on some pre-school simple shit. How dude's eat his music up like it's free food boggles me. Z'Ro's record wasn't as great as I thought it couldve been, again I listened to too many people on these webforums.

Styles P's single = nice, Beanie Sigels record = solid.

Where's Redman? Where's AZ? Where's Mic Geronimo? Where's Biggie's Duets? And where's that Ol' Dirty record?

How can Def Jam put Mariah Carey out infront of a long serving worker like Redman? I'll never figure it out. When's Jay-Z gonna make some serious moves up there aswell?

What I'd like to see.
Ras Kass, Roscoe, Rasco, Kool G Rap, a Chuck D solo or atleast another Public Enemy record. Bun-B succeed.

On a last note, Canibus Mind Control single is hot. Something different from the Canibus man, hopefully he can carry his form onto his upcomming records.

peace.
