First Ever Face Transplant

i guess the only issue is the donors family being upset that she may look like the donor, that the only problem,. but they did say she will not look exactly like the donor and you do get people who look like each other from different parts of the world.,

am glad they could help that poor woman anyway, when i die, am taking my soul, and if my body parts helped anybody be it my face then i be happy to help out, its not that am going to need it.

i read partial because it is concidered a health hazard to completely do it and they ususally get the donors from brain dead patients anyways there are a number of risks such as rejection along with possible skin going black and just peeling off or cancer to start from it.

they have had surgery for arms and noses etc but now many are questioning if this is ethical.

keep in mind they have to look like the donor and the patient.

Me too, although I find the idea that someone might like to have my face intriguing. lol. I know it's a serious thread and all, but I cant help but find it kind of amusing. Ethics need not come into it, basically it is a choice for the donor and the donee, no judgment need be passed from anyone else.

Personally, Im not a donar, just for my own personal issues, the idea creeps me out.

But this would creep me out even more, I cant imagine having a loved one donate their face to someone else, and then seeing the other person.

It just seems wrong.

What exactly creeps you out about being a donor if you dont mind my asking. When you say 'wrong' do you mean morally wrong, or something else? I'd gladly give out as much of me as I can so I'm interested to know other people's perspective. I see it as something like aid, here is something I have and dont need, here is someone who is in need. I appreciate it is more complicated for others when it is their physical self but for me, I'm totally at ease with the thought.

I dont know how to explain it, it just makes me feel violated, or icky. Some people feel icky thinking about spiders crawling on their body, I feel icky about being cut up and stuck on someone else.

Plus I have spiritual questions. If my soul moves on when my body dies, and I get donated and parts of me are still alive, where does that leave my soul? In limbo?

agree with ruk. to me its something different if someone gives his arm or leg or a liver, whatever, but the face? no!...

am sure the doctors would be considerate enough not to probably donate a donors face who used to live in the same town as the victim for eithical reasons. so it wouldnt upset freinds and family at least..

who knows!

am sure there will be a healthy Que of people happy to wear it.

in the end of the day if beauty is really in the heart then your face is only skin deep! or is it the other way round?
