Who are your favourite female artists?

I think the female singing voice is just naturally better. Most of my favourite singers are female. Some of my favourite bands and artists are female/have prominent female members.

Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Carole King, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, Lauryn Hill, Blondie, Alanis Morisette, Camera Obscura, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Soviettes, Emliana Torrini, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Charlotte Hatherley, Smoosh , Sleater-Kinney, Dresden Dolls, Mirah, Bjork, The Von Bondies, Bratmobile, Le Tigre, Garbage, The Go! Team, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bikini Kill, The Be Good Tanyas, Tegan and Sara, Shonen Knife, Jack Off Jill...countless others

Sarah Mclachlan in my opinion beats any female artist hands down. She made me cry :cry:

the song called "Angel" is one of my favourites of all time.

Other female artists that i really like are most of the ones you mentioned (i haven't listend to billie nor Alanis in AGES though) Dido, Jewel (first album only, her newer stuff is just the products of a sellout), Monica (i love angel of mine), Toni braxton, TLC... there are so many more, i just can't think.

not many women got good as verses and could rap, this two women I could recall that could have mad versus acuatly could rap with mad flow not many women could do that -_- meaning that they could rap without using this in a song-- describing their bodies,love,being a mother,use their popish vocals throughtout the whole dawm song and sexual feelings, cuz thats all I hear in modern rap women

^haha, yeah plenty of times. Before the 'incident' i had the lyrics posted up and all in the don't stop the music section.
It's just one of those songs that touches me somewhere in my heart that many other songs can;t reach.

I think Alicia Keys has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard (even her speaking voice is nice and deep and melodic). Other people like Aaliyah, Beyonce, Jewel even Delta Goodrem have good voices but I dunno, there's something about Alicia. In terms of catchy music, other female artists I like are JLo, Kylie Minogue and yeah Shakira (shame on me for those three I know!!) haha!
