Tru Principle said:Recently I’ve been noticing a trend in social interactions via the internet. What I found was that generally, people tend to sugarcoat who they are when using the World Wide Web. I only started noticing this when I accidentally came across friends I know in real life who are using websites like myspace.com; it shocked me to see how different they look in the pictures they upload, how different they sound when they’re talking about who they are and in reality… even though I know it’s them, if you let me read what they wrote with out seeing their pictures, I could never guess it’s the same people I know in real life. It’s so easy to exaggerate when you’re sitting alone in your room, behind a computer desk. There’s nobody in your face who can tell if you’re lying, nobody is going to ask you to provide proof of who you are, nobody can see you to verify if what you say is true… it’s just you and your self, that’s the only person who can stop you from lying and most of the times; you fail. And on this board, it’s very well possible that we do have people who are being fake about who they are. It’s the easiest and in fact most abundant thing on this board and many other boards to... act hard. Shit like, I’ll do this to you and do that and I’m this strong and I have that and I have these... I’ve met him, she’s my buddy… I mean people just talk and talk about how dope they are, when it might be the complete opposite in real life. To compensate for the sorry ass lives people are living, they might come online and create a lie.. a lie that people believe in and by having people believe in that lie... they might feel better, and in fact might spend 12 hours a day on an internet forum , having 25 posts a day… because they no longer live in reality, rather they live in a fictional world we call the internet. You have people dissing rappers and swear that these rappers are fake and wanksters, but I dare these people to say this shit to their face.. They wouldn’t, and that’s what’s hypocritical and fake.
I don't need to talk about what i've been through in life or the obstacles i've had to over come to be the person I am today to FEEL GOOD about my self. I know who I am but the question is.. these people who lie about themselves, who create stories.. who act hard... who act is if in real life they're big shots.. they're all that... are they really OK with who they are?
If you spend many hours online, doing research… reading articles that educate you... communicating with loved ones who aren't in the same country as you are... when your job is online.. then really, you're a normal person using the internet.
However, if you're a person... who spends many hours online reading articles about celebrities, posting 20,30 even 40 posts a day on discussion boards and these posts are truly immature and have no intellect in them...if you are obsessed with selling your life as a hot shot, attractive, smart, gangsta, thugged out dude ONLINE when in real life you ain't shit... when you're simply, creating a fake life online to feel better.. then dude, or dudette.. you're A LIE... you're fake
Get off the internet, and be who you are in real life.. stop acting hard on the internet, stop acting like you'd beat somebody up if by any chance you saw him/her in real life.. stop acting like you know it all, stop acting like you're better than everybody when really that's just your own way to deal with your low self esteem and your insecurities... stop juding people you know nothing about.
Get a mutha fuckin life that's real, quit fakin quit lyin.
Well you already look too internet orientated at it. I for me agree that i act on the internet like i'd never act in real life sometimes too, but that doesn't mean i have no real life, now does it?
For me Internet is just another medium for entertainment, it's fun (in regards to online forums and such) and of course a good place for informations. The buddies i got in my aim / msn list are mostly people i'd be cool with in real life too and therefore having fun with also (refering to the "LOL", "WTF" stuff ect. wich prolly means for you "havin no real life"). It's not the same thing when you talk to someone over net than face to face anyway, that's why smilies and net language like "pwn" or "lol" are nessessairly cause you can't really recognize by letters if the dude on the other side is laughin now or not, know what i mean.
My Post is more about Amara's question, not your report. I know what you mean though, I also saw someone acting wild over the net while he was a complete loser in real life, but i wanna say it differs from person to person that's why you can't really say who has no life and who has one. UNDERSTOOD YOU FUCKING QUEERBAG!?? (<-- good example for something i'd never say in real life
)
