Faces of Meth: Before/After

actually meth is only partially responsible for the facial lacerations...

the root cause is that meth is a poison, but menth users "tweak" and while they're high they need miscellaneous fine motor tasks to focus their energies upon. meth is notorious for bugs under the skin feelings, and usually the facial lacerations are from users actually digging into their own faces to get them out. some patients i saw for their meth use actually used broken bottles to cut themselves to get the bugs out.

when you actually break it down, meth has no business being used. i can understand crack, it's just a way to add to the potentency of cocaine; but meth is 100& UNnatural and therefore is really the demon amongst all street drugs. hell, even heroin has organic roots at least.

here's a story for you, and you can believe it or not, but it's true. i saw a patient who was high on meth and on a high speed chase with the police when he tipped his bike and got severe leg injuries from the road. he was processed through our ER and sent to me since he was there because of drugs. we did his inpatient treatment for about three weeks and he was released with instructions to replace the packing on his leg wounds regularly and take a regiment of antibiotics.

well, he returned months later for further chemical dependency treatment, however unable to walk. i sent him to the sitz bath because he obviously hadn't showered for days. when i returned to check up on him i was astounded to see the surface of the water completely covered by dead flies and maggots.

as it turns out, instead of changing his bandages, he encased and cinched off his wounded legs with two garbage bags and some duct tape. he stated he did so because the dried blood began to stink (rot) and he couldn't bear it. well as it turns out he trapped flies that had been feeding on his dried blood, and when sealed in the bags, they had no where or nothing to do besides feed on him. the flies consumed his dead flesh, and the maggots burrowed into his legs.

long story short, he is now a double amputee.

Wow, extremely interesting...thanks for the knowledge about the reason of the sores too, I don't know much about drugs and I was wondering why they all had the same hideous looking sores...
