As for Italy, fuck em. They've never beaten us in 5-6 encounters. They will fail again, because we take more pleasure in beating Italy than winning a World Cup.
and we drew with them twice in the world cup 2010 qualification. should have beaten them in one of the games.
its an interesting group. we have no chance of beating spain but i think we can put up a good fight in the other two games.
i think Spain and Croatia with Italy third and outselves last
then again Italy could frustrate spain. hard one to call though. dont think Italy are that good nowadays though.
Ireland will beat Italy. Pace + energy will scare Italy. Italy will play better against Spain as Spain won't really go in behind their defence, Robbie Keane/Long/Mcgeady will cause Italy huge problems. Unless Balotelli is really in the mood I can't see Italy doing well in the tournament.
I think Croatia and Spain will beat Ireland though. Or Ireland will draw against Croatia.
Portugal will be battered by Germany and the Dutch and will lose to 2-1 to Denmark

The first matches in our group are probably the most important.. As Italy/Spain will more or less dictate who will finish first imo, and then it's Ireland/Croatia.
We have an act of starting off our groups badly... hopefully that won't be the case.
As for the other groups... I've been waiting a long time to see Germany and Holland go at it once more in an International tourny. It's fap worthy.

Been off here for a while so back to give my analysis. I know you've all been waiting 
Group A:
Poorest group in terms of technical abaility etc but possibly the hardest one to call. Russia should top it but have a habit of underperforming. Czech Republic are a poor team compared to the early 00's, not expecting much from them. Greece are boring but effective while Poland are steadily improving, home advantage will be crucial for them. I expcet Russia to win the group with Greece second.
Group B:
4 Good footballing teams (unless Holland revert to their WC 2010 final tactics). Germany are the form team in Europe at the moment and have steadily improved since the 2006 WC final. It's very impressive how many of the U21 2009 winners have came through and made the grade at full international level. Holland again looked impressive in the qualifiers and seem to have the right blend of youth and experienced players. Denmark are a decent team who i thought may progress to the later stages with a favourable draw but that's not been the case. I still believe that they'll push the other teams close and aren't the push over many believe. Portugal are strange team. I seen them against Bosnia where they looked unplayable but then in some of their qualifiers they were terrible, who knows what team will turn up. I think Germany will top the group ahead of Holland.
Group C:
Spain will be huge favourites to win the group but i think they are actually a weaker team than the ones who won the previous Euros and WC. Their 2 main strikers are currently out of form with their club sides and it now seems debatable whether or not Torres will go as Soldado is banging them in for Valencia. Also in defence Puyol and Pique have not appeared as solid as previous seasons and injuries seem to be a lot more frequent. Italy will be made second favourites but i'm not too sure. From what i've seen they do not have the fear factor that previous Italian teams do. Croatia and Ireland seem to playing for 3rd spot but i think both are capable of beating Italy to 2nd. Croatia have the advantage as they have that extra bit of talent in midfield (Modric) but i think Ireland have a decent chance to. I hope they set out with a front 2 (Keane and Long) and don't play 1 up front to try and stop the opposition. Overall i think Spain will top the group claiming maximum points with Croatia finishing 2nd.
Group D:
I see this as a straight fight between France and England. Both are a cut above the other 2 teams, Sweden and Ukraine, and should qualify easily. I actually think it may come down to goal difference to seperate them. The French seem to have a bit of unity under Blanc and if that continues (no guarantee) then i think they'll go to the semis atleast. Whoever finishes second is rather fucked as they'll more then likely face Spain in the quarters.

Pretty good analysis. I think Ukraine's home advantage will help them a lot though. I expect them to get a result against England or France.
Ukraine can play a pretty rugged game. We had them twice in a few years back and the bastards truly ripped a page out of Greece's book.
If England don't qualify I am applying for an Irish passport (I qualify on my dad's side) and I am going to give up being English.

Walters is an effective player but Long is so much better. He'll get a move to a bigger team next season.

The FA confirms that Fabio Capello has resigned as England Manager.
The Football Association can confirm that Fabio Capello has today resigned as England Manager.
This follows a meeting involving FA Chairman David Bernstein, FA General Secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium.
The discussions focused on The FA Board’s decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello’s response through an Italian broadcast interview.
In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio’s resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England Manager with immediate effect.
David Bernstein said: “I would like to stress that during today’s meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio’s resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future.”
A media conference with David Bernstein and the Club England Management team will take place at Wembley on Thursday at 12 noon.
The FA will not be making any further comment until the media conference.
