Doses of Happiness

I have a load more on my pc at home (I'm pretty sad like that), will try and post them up later :)

Nah, that's not sad. Hey, if you have time would you be able to email them to me?

LOVE

I'm not exactly a math whiz, but I took out my calculator yesterday to add up a few things:

thoughtfulness
+ sharing
+ sacrifice
+ humility
+ compromise

= love

(I hope I didn't forget a decimal place in there.)

HAPPINESS

Happiness is not about amassing things, no matter what the TV ads will tell you.

Happiness is not about amassing beautiful memories, no matter what
sentimentality tells you.

Happiness is a deep feeling of contentment, of knowing that life is a blessing beyond compare...even when it feels like you are standing on the red "x" in the nuclear test field.

MOMENTUM

Fear is the number one contributor to stopping momentum. Rest assured that Fear will arise with our first challenge, or worse, our first setback on our path.

Fear is just an emotion, and can be our ally as it allows us to be aware in challenging situations. But also, it can halt our momentum, can't it?

There are only three in-born fears in human beings - the fear of falling, fear of loud noises & the fear of abandonment. The good news is that all the rest are learned fears, like fear of Failure, fear of Success, fear of Rejection etc, and can be un-learned.

By un-learning the fears that hold you back most, you can break through them so that you can maintain your momentum.

What are the three fears that hold you back most?

FULL

Let life in.

When you are full of yourself and there is no room left for anything else. Let go of your concerns of self, and let in more of the goodness of life.

When your mind is filled with worries, those worries begin to come to life. Let go of the worries, and let in an awareness of the positive possibilities that surround you.

When your heart is filled with anger and resentment, there is no place left for love to dwell. Let go of the anger, and let in the joy of love.

Open your heart, open your mind, and open yourself to the positive possibilities of each moment. Let in the beauty, let in the joy, let in the richness of life.

CONTRAST

There is something special about a winter camp fire that just does not happen in the summertime. Perhaps it is the smell of the burning wood that stands out because the snow covers up all other smells. Perhaps it is the sensation of warmth on otherwise frozen skin. Perhaps it is the excitement of creating heat when nature has programmed cold.

Around our fire pit, as in life, contrast is exciting. Contrast keeps us vibrant. Contrast energizes.

Yes, we have to go along with the flow to live amongst other human beings and we have to rely on well-worn habits to get anything accomplished in a day. But a little contrast, a little acting outside the box, sure spices up one's life.

HAPPINESS

The lettering on the door to happiness reads "push".

I know that sometimes you push. I know that sometimes you pull, too.

When you hold a grudge or carry resentment, you are pulling. When you engage in self-doubt or guilt, you are pulling. When you take your blessings for granted, or feel envious of others, you are pulling.

Don't pull the door to happiness. The lettering reads "push".

SMILE

Have I mentioned the importance of smiling recently?

Smiling is as much a happiness booster as it is a symptom of happiness. The very act of smiling, if sincere (forced grimaces do not count!), lifts our mood instantly. There actually is a chemical
reason for this, but what you need to know is that it works.

Better yet, smile at somebody you don't know. And at somebody
you do. Why not go all out and smile at everybody you meet.
Before you know it, your contagious smile has lit up the entire neighborhood around you.

SILLINESS

"Don't be silly."

You have heard that so many times, it almost seems like instinct.
But why not be silly?

Playfulness keeps you feeling young. It reduces stress. It reduces your risk of every stress-related ailment and prolongs your life.

Go ahead and be silly. You owe it to yourself.

APPRECIATION

Be a magnifying glass of appreciation.

There is so much wonder in the world, so much beauty, so much to enjoy. There is also so much that we miss, because habit makes it fade into the background.

The good news is that you can choose to focus on all the wonderful
things that everybody else takes for granted. You can be a
magnifying glass that makes simple things, like electricity to heat
water with, look like a big deal. After all, if you go a couple days without electricity, you will see that it IS a big deal.

PATIENCE

Things don't always follow a timeline - I've often thought what a
shame it is that personal success doesn't always adhere to a stricter timeline. If it did I'm convinced that there would be more
folks finding personal satisfaction and success...

Take heart though. By keeping careful track of our goals as we
achieve them we can use our "little triumphs" to our advantage. It
really doesn't so much matter how specifically you track them,
whether in a fancy journal or a plain old notebook! The important
thing is that you write them down!

What this does is provides us with needed fuel and re- energizes us
during those times when we feel we're not making ample progress...

LEGACY

Each of has within us the unique ability to build something that will long out last our time on this earth. Things that can offer us true peace, as we grow older. This is based off of the simple saying "we can't take it with us"...

No matter how much wealth you have the simple fact still remains you can't take it with you! Now here's what we can take with us.

The time that we spend with our friends or family, each time we take throughout the day not only to give, but also to show another how to provide for themselves. When we take the time to slow down a bit during our busy day and simply take in the moment. These are just a few of the things that can have a lasting effect. Increasing your income is important, but do yourself a favor and don't neglect the "smaller" things in life.

PERSISTANCE

Sometimes we go through points in our lives where things just don't
seem to be going right. I am sure we can all think back to one time or another where we can relate to this.

I wish I knew the answer to why this happens, but I don't.
Personally I chalk it up to another of life's many mysteries. There lies the fact that with enough belief, the right help, and in some cases pure persistence we can turn these feelings around for the better...

You may be one of the lucky ones who can read something positive and your day totally changes for the better. Others may require the help of a therapist, a trained professional to do so. I don't really
believe it's important what particular path you take, so long as we understand that we owe it to ourselves to do whatever it takes to make positive changes in our lives.

ADVERSITY

In each of our lives, for whatever reason, there are times that we are faced with things that just don't make sense to us. And the more we struggle to understand our hardships, the less any of it makes sense...

I've personally found that in every challenge and obstacle we are faced with there can be good that comes from it! While it's almost never easy to identify, I assure you that it is there lying dormant just waiting for us to release it!

I urge everyone to spend your days looking for the positives in your life...

Interesting... how is it false?

I watched a TV program about kids being teased at school so I'll use that example. Are you telling me that a kid that gets beat up at school every day only has to fear what fear is keeping him from doing?

Besides that I can give you 1000000000000000000000000000000000000 examples of people who actually have something to fear.

Honestly the statement "the only thing you have to fear is fear itself" might sound inspiring and all that but it's a load of bullshit.

^nah, that statement is so true.

Okay, you're walking outside late at night all alone. After a while you notice a guy following you. He catches up to you, grabs you and starts tearing off your clothes and tells you if you struggle, he'll slit your throat. Nothing to fear right? Right.

Nope but you have used the sentence in a different context.

The quote was meant as in a fear of doing something for example "I can't swim with dolphins cus I'm afraid"

But yes Chronic you definitely have a point.

Basically what its trying to make people understand is that fear can hold you back in your life, so its not totally bullshit.

DOUBT

The road less traveled - I am certain you know the road I am
referring to. It may very well be that you're on such a path now?
It's rarely an easy one and often filled with those that make claims
that things can't be done...

Have you ever noticed that when you're attempting to pursue
something new in your life you run across people that (often
unknowingly) fill you with doubts?

When this happens it's imperative that we keep in mind that it's not necessarily that they doubt us, but rather that they doubt that
they would be capable of pulling off such an effort.

EMPATHY

Empathy is an important part of love. It is the missing ingredient
that the worst criminals lack. They kill without remorse because
they have no empathy.

When we are filled with empathy, it is very hard to be mean to
anyone, including ourselves.

We develop empathy by putting ourselves in the other person's
shoes...or by putting their feelings into our own hearts.

OPTIMISM

"When the going seems all uphill, just think of the view from the top."

These words by Lauraly offer us something to look forward to, a way
to understand the value of optimism.

If we patiently wait for something, it is because we know it is worth
the wait. Like waiting for our birthday.

The same goes for when we are battling insurmountable odds. The
view from the top is worth it.

YOU

The world needs you.

The world needs you to be yourself, or else you would be somebody
else.

The world needs you to help people you meet, or else you would not
meet them.

The world needs you to nurture it, or else it would not nurture you.

The world needs you to smile, or else it would not smile on you.

The world needs you today, or else you would not be here now.

The world needs you.

GRATITUDE

I AM SO GRATEFUL for living by my own standards.
No longer looking to others for validation
I expend my energies on what I believe in,
Accepting people for who they are
Makes my life much happier for me.

I AM SO GRATEFUL for perking myself up.
Singing about sunshine makes me shine inside,
When I smile others seem to be smiling too.
Making others happy is what I try to do,
Giving back the joy that's been given to me.

I AM SO GRATEFUL for a happy-go-lucky disposition.
By choosing to see the brighter side of life
A positive outlook is ever present,
It's nothing more than a balancing act
And a trick keeping all the balls in the air.

LEADERSHIP

Leadership is about building. Leaders don't tear down what others
are building. Rather, they choose their own projects and build. A
leader can always look back and say "I did that". She might have
had help, perhaps a massive amount of help, but that does not
diminish the leadership.

To be a leader, the first step is to decide what you want to build.
What do you want to create that will benefit the world, the country
or even just your family? Don't think about what needs to be torn
down. (Yes, that sometimes happens.) Focus on what needs to be
built. Then get ready to build.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Is the glass half full or half empty?

ITS HALF FULL!!!

But full of what? Lemon juice or lemonade?

That depends entirely on you. There are many things that happen
in your life, some good, some bad, some easy, some hard. But your
life is about you and the choices you make. It is not about what
happens to you and around you; it is about how you react to those
events.

Choose a positive attitude. No, you won't be ecstatic every minute
of the day, nor should you. But you can turn a lot of lemons into
lemonade, so fill up your glass.

I know patience was one of the first ones you posted up but I lack it.

Due to this shortcoming, I am unaware as to whether or not humour has been put up - although I'd guess it has.

In the event of this, imagination is what is needed next.

Don Potato Head co-signs this. <<<<the imagination at work....at least that's what we tell the Feds.
