If you bid $100 on an item, thinking "There's no way anyone will even come close to a 100" YOU'RE A MORON, because there are people out there with the same fucked up philosophy, only they bid 99.99. it's not that they bid a few more cents than your top bid - it's that that was the next bidding step up from yours. they could have bid a million bucks, and ebay would bump them up 50 cents from your bid.
