do you ever just want to leave?

^ Yeah but freeposting and beef probably wouldnt affect everyone because posters dont have the responsibility like mods do to respond or prevent it from happening. It is annoying that we cant come on the board and always laugh along, or post whatever. We have to read the threads (all or at least most in our forums) to check that they are ok, they are on track... often it takes away the fun.

nah, personally i can say it does not take away the fun.

actually its better to be a mod cause when u see a stupid comment u can just delete it so u dont have to read it again...so advantage mod ;) (too bad i cant delete posts in every forum)

The sleazy remarks are simply said in fun, I understand that, but at the same time I dont like it because everyone knows I have a boyfriend and regardless of whether he reads it or not, I dont like being commented on simply because I'm one of the token females around here.

i cant understand why it affects u that much. so there are some members who give a stupid comment about you or your boyfriend or whatever...so? i cant believe these people can make u feel bad in a certain way...

I'm not the only one who's point of view isnt respected - it happens to all of us and probably wont ever be rectified.... still it is just frustrating when it happens. And yeah, I did notice bigmack say that and I did appreciate it very much. But I dunno if it's just because I am a stubborn minded Aquarian, I dont like that people dont understand or seek to understand where you are coming from.

thats how life is like. you are 21, u should have learned by now how to deal with it. of course there are people who does not respect your opinion..but does it really matter if someone somewhere in the world respects your opinion or not? focus on the real important things in your life: your family, your boyfriend, your friends, your job etc...if one of these people does not respect your opinion i can understand why its frustrating.
its obviously impossible to get love and respect from everyone, but like i said, it doesnt even matter.

Surely you notice it too Calcuo, you're here as much if not more than I am.... doesnt it detract all your attention from other things to the point where sometimes you just wanna smash your computer? Or is that really just me..... lol.

if its really a problem for you then my advice is: switch off the computer and come back when u have learned to deal with it.

at the end of the day its just the internet and u can escape it whenever u want to...

i'm gonna risk stepping on thin ice..

i'd say the reason why the life forum has gone down-hill is that a lot of the old-timers stepped away from it because they couldn't be bothered mentoring the newer generation of fans. dante and g. litt is, i think, among the very few people who have been around that actually post in that forum. and so naturally, the new fans take it upon themselves to enlighten eachother even if they don't know the facts. my point is that i have heard so many people talk about how the life forum is a mess but i have seen so little counter-action to rescue what's left. it is very easy to point out mistakes, but it is a lot harder to even them out.

if tupac really wanted people to think and do something, neglecting that forum is doing the opposite.

ps. this is not meant as a reply to rukas post really because mike has more important things to deal with :) rather, this is something anybody who at one point or another is gonna complain about how bad the life forum is should carry with them, because just like a garden or a love relationship, life needs maintainance to bloom once every spring. we are all guilty if none of us do anything about it.

aww , thanks amara, i think you raise interesting topics too :D

But i agere. See when it was uni, i'd use the bored as an excuse to get away. Now that i'm out of uni, i use it to fill in my sleepless nights. But when i do come on here ijust look at some peoples posts and all i can do is sigh.
Freeposting, pointless crap, narrow mindness, that e-thug internet tough stuff, the whole stupid stuff, and the fact that some people find it funny and encourage them (the saying is true, small minded people are amused by the smallest things).

But i still come back because of those few people who do raise interesting stuff and intelligent discussion.

Mind you my tolerance for stupid bullshit and freeposting has gone to naught ever since i've been modded. Can't imagine what the supermods and admins go through. (plus, i'm only modding 2 small forums)

Exactly my feelings about the LIFE. I often like to read some more deep issues about Pac because i know that Pac had a mission and wanted to lead some kind of revolution. (Yes revsta that's what i think). U know he wanted to spark the brain to change this world he was talkin about all day long.
I'm reading much bout Pac but i really don't like the topics in the Life Forum. Since I'm a member there were only a few themes which were interesting.
My proposal is similar to Rizzle's. I think that the "older" members have to lead discussions - to teach! Look at the Life forum these are all students. Pick em up!!

How about a ban for all 'dumb' members or ignorant members? This would help board members have a much more enjoyable stay. Just my two cents :)
Banning 90% of the board will be along and tedious process (unless ruk can group ban).
Plus they'll be coming back in their flocks anyway

When I read that, I immediately thought of the showring comment I made in nail_polish's thread. Even though I don't think this comment was directed towards me 'cause we have good relationship on here (as far as message forum relationships go haha), I apologize if I've ever said anything that bothered you.

Yeah but no offence, but you've been a mod in dfl for about 5 mins now.... the advantages wear off quick....which is why people like salty ask to revoke their status... the initial perks lose their lustre one breach of guidelines at a time....then imagine having to deal with every forum...

i cant understand why it affects u that much. so there are some members who give a stupid comment about you or your boyfriend or whatever...so? i cant believe these people can make u feel bad in a certain way...

I guess because I am used to a certain level of dignity. No-one would make jokes about me in real life, they wouldnt bloody dare, lol! So naturally, I dont wanna be treated like a peice of ass here either...!

thats how life is like. you are 21, u should have learned by now how to deal with it. of course there are people who does not respect your opinion..but does it really matter if someone somewhere in the world respects your opinion or not?

In a way it does, not because I demand things of people but rather because I always try and respect them first and even when very frustrated have always listened to their opinions and tried to avoid offending people. So I'm not gonna "learn to deal with it" - I shouldnt have to...regardless of my age.

In any case, just because I make this thread and talk about things that I dont like, doesnt mean I am losing sleep over it. I'm just sharing random thoughts about little things that shit me... nothing too concerning.

only really come to Our Block now, used to be a big fan of the Life forum. Street Hop i feel has gone downhill over the passed few months too. Ive gone from coming here to learn & share views on Pacs life & Music, too just coming here for the random / sometimes funny threads in this forum.

I hate Life. HATE THE LIFE FORUM. Because to me, 90% of the people in there are not fans of Tupac, they just like the music. They dont understand what Pac stood for or the world he grew up in and lived in. They cant comprehend the Black Panther Party, or the Code of Thug Life or anything like that. They dont understand what Hip-Hop was back like then, and just can not understand the grand scope of Tupac's mentality and life. The kids in there are only 2Pac fans because they like the music, and the majority of them do not even take the time to understand what the music MEANS, they just like the way it sounds.

I remember in the late 90s when we were all kids, so age doesnt excuse ignorance, people like myself, Jon, G, Dante and other OGs would actually DISCUSS things that mattered, like Tupac's political outlook, the impact of his life, the plite of the African American's and Black Panthers, making a change (that is why Words Of Wisdom was created,) now we get posts about Tupac's muscles.

Its the same scale of bullshit that Tupac pointed out in his highschool interview where he said "we should have classes on why theres poverty, a real sex education class, a class on drugs, a class on real politics, a class on police brutality, a class on apartheid , but no, instead we have a class on... Gym."

The threads in Life nowadays are that Gym class. Pac woulda hated most of ya all because you dont THINK.

True words :thumb:

Most people that post in life now like Tupac because of listening to All Eyez On Me, Better Dayz, UTEOT, you know, the more "mainstream" albums.

I read an article in some magazine that talks about the difference of "listening" to the music and "hearing" the music. Listening is what you were talking about - putting the CD in the stereo and thinking "Hey, I like this beat" or "I like his flow". But HEARING the music is looking deeper into the words, learning what he had to say and actually thinking about what it means. I know that after listening to 2Pacalypse Now and Strictly, and hearing all the political outlooks-the deeper meaning into the music and lyrics-that it got me interested in what he really felt and had to say.

Before that I was one of the fans you refer to, I didn't comprehend the Panthers, I couldn't understand the Code of the Thug Life. I didn't know what it was like to try to "have every black man in America know what I want to do next".

I was a lurker here dating back to March of last year, and I learned A LOT. For some reason I didn't register until November, don't know why I stopped coming here, but that's not the point. The point is that when I was here, I learned things that I never knew about pac. His outlooks, the in-depth discussions-what you referred to again-and just the general good conversation we had here. I think that a few people have taken some of the fun away.

When a potentially good thread gets closed because of a page and a half of Dante or Pittsey bashing-Dante because he won't leak tracks for free that he paid a ton of money to find, or Pittsey because he does a good job modding and closing threads-it's a shame that some people that might have been clowned in the past come back and think that the people doing their job to keep the forum a good place to be turn it into a bad, unfun place. It turns into a neverending cycle of making stupid threads, it getting closed, the person complaining in Letter to the President, they get clowned, they go over the top, they get banned, they come back.

It's a shame.

Isn't this also from White Men Can't Jump?

^Yeah, that might have been where it was.

Well I know it was definitely in the movie.

It's one of those running things throughout the movie where Wesley tells Woody that while he is able to "listen to Jimmy(Hendrix)", he can't "hear Jimmy".

Sometimes I just hate it here. I hate that people misunderstand my point of view and I hate that it takes up my time. lol.

Sometimes I want to leave and can for several days, at which point I actually do study and get out and see everyone and do all the things I like to do, reading or exercising or whatever.

Then I get sucked back in.... I just gotta check that my forums are in control and taken care of.....then 3 hours later I remember why I cant stand it coz I see beef here, freeposting there or a sleazy sexist remark about me here, a blantant disrespect for my point of view there...

Just felt like saying that.
There are times when I really hate this board. As soon as I see a topic on the issue of homosexuality I know exactly what's going to ensue, and I know it'll make me angry and depressed, but I have to go in there and comment. I know I'll spend a long time reading through posts that will make my blood boil, and I know that everything I say will be in vain, but I can't help it.

Yeah. I've been doing the same for couple years now.
