You always see in newspapers that "the average American" thinks such and suck, or "the average Australian male" agrees with X, Y and Z.

Does anyone actually consider themself representative of their respective demographic? Does anyone think that their views are pretty much in line with the majority?

no, i agree wit the majority sum times, but disagree more. im pretty sure most people r like that

majority = most ppl

most ppl dont disagree with the majority, hence the meaning of majority itself....

thats not wut i meant

majority of people agree wit the the majority in certain situations, but disagree in most others. Its hard to explain

say heres a situation. 10 people r asked 10 questions. For every question, 6 people say yes, and 4 people say no. A cuple people will say yes to all of them, a cuple people will say no to all of them, but, the other 6 or so will say yes to sum, and no to sum. Thus the majority of the group, doesnt always agree wit the majority of the group lol.

these are the anwers you wanted to have Illu, arent they?lol

anyway, your question is hard to answer. sometimes i agree with the majority, sometimes not....maybe im not the best representative for the majority, but on the other hand im not that far away from it.

Certain things yes but the majority no. Also depends on the subject but i like to think i take the time to explore beneath the surface with most subjects that grab my attention for a better understanding whereas i think most people hear the "headline" or listen to the spin so to speak and then comment, which is the only real difference.

I picked average before I read the question...but overall I usually don't agree with the majority
