Run DMC rapper Darryl McDaniels, a.k.a. DMC, has founded a summer camp for children growing up without parents.

"There are many children growing up without parents, in the foster care system or with parents who aren't really equipped," said DMC, who founded Camp Felix through his Felix Organization. "These children do not have the opportunities we had, or parental hands to guide and support them as we did. We want to give them what so many of us are lucky enough to take for granted, new opportunities. New adventures."

McDaniels teamed with The New York Foundling to acquire a 350-acre existing camp located in Putnam Valley, New York for three weeks in August. The rapper, himself, was the focus of a VH1 documentary that followed his search for his birth parents after discovering he was adopted.
