Soundcrash in June is all about the DJ, with literally some of the best in the world coming along to demonstrate what it’s all about…
Kentaro’s blend of hip-hop, breaks, drum & bass and turntablism is untouchable. His tours have included the largest 40 dayz North-Western Solo European/UK tour of himself - The No-Waller's asian tour 2002, as it was mentioned above - legendary tour with the Roots in Japan 2003, tour with Pharcyde in Japan2003, the Zamurai Japan tour 2004 w/ Hifana & Gagle from Tokyo and Sendai, Japan, and extensive dates worldwide... Jamaica, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France. This, along with, extensive coverage in all most every hip-hop and dance music magazine and TV program available, (Check out the December 2002 cover of Blast Magazine, the October 2003 of IDJ Magazine, and the March 2004 of V-Magazine) has made Kentaro a worldwide hip-hop phenomenon.
Where some turntablists are content to fill their routines with the same ol' thang, Kentaro uses his awesome technique to move beyond the crab scratch and has catapulted drum 'n' bass and dance music into a realm that nobody has yet to explore. Cheeba is the genre twisting turntablist at the forefront of the ‘Best Club Night in Bristol’ The Detectives of Perspective (Venue Magazine Award 2006). Cheeba has been found playing in a wealth of venues and club nights from Bishopston to Bedminster and beyond including a residency at Solid Steel in Bristol, and we’re more than happy to have him along at Soundcrash this month.

Boom Monk Ben is a bit of an oddity... a Hip Hop DJ who beat juggles Derrick Carter records, a Drum and Bass DJ who keeps playing Funk and Northern Soul cuts, a Reggae collector with a penchant for Beck and Bjork..
A prominent figure in Glasgow's close knit clubbing scene, Ben can be found cutting, spinning and fumbling his way through boxes of beats at the city's best clubs, bars and radio stations. The Art School, The Arches, Sub Club and The Basement Bar are all smashed to pieces by the Boom Monk on regular occasions with his diverse mix of dance floor bangers, acapella blends and three deck mixing.
With buddy Hint in on the action tonight, be prepared to see why this DJ is being hounded by the likes of Tru Thoughts and Ninja Tunes.

Art school dropout King Cannibal (Formerly ZILLA-government name Dylan Richards) began working on his own brand of super-evolved mixes towards the latter end of the nineties as a reaction to the glut of uninspiring mix compilations that had began to flood the industry. The first salvo against conformity was A Friendly Game of Chess, a self-funded, hand-sprayed, highly under-the-counter mix project with Lex Records DJ and friend Buddy Peace. The highly stylised conceptual expression of work that combined a rich fusion of textures together with strong themes and motifs began to ignite more than their own imaginations, selling out in just 48 hours and earning high praise on a global scale. Recently signed to Ninja Tunes as King Cannibal.
