Did you like Makaveli album the 1st time you heard it?

I didn't like it the first time I heard it. But it grew on me.

1st time i heard it i liked hail mary and to live an die in la but never really got into tracks like blasphemy, hold ya head and against all odds, maybe cos i was so young but now its the best album ever imo.

and wots up with all the hate on toss it up and just like daddy i think they good an nuttin wrong with them, any1 wanna explain why they dont like these tracks or got a problem wit them?

Actually, when I first heard this album, I thought it was good but I wasn't overly impressed. From my perspective, 'Pac's style changed on every album reflecting his growth and development both as a person and an artist. DK7 was no exception and it took me a few listens to absorb the different style. However, after hearing it a few times over, I was hooked. I know I'm in the minority, at least on this board, with my contention that Me Against the World is his best album, but DK7 follows right after.

Also, I agree with many members on this board that Toss It Up should not have been on the album. It's the only track I skip.

Nah, im with you on that. I still listen to MATW more then any Pac album still.

I didn't really like it that much when i first heard it. It was a complete departure of what AEOM was. There was some "POP" appeal AEOM had, it had something for everyone in there. This album was darker....it's not for the typical rap fans who are just looking for catchy hooks and ryhmes.

I know alot of people are hating To Live and Die in L.A. and Just lyke Daddy not fitting in but I think with Makaveli being such a dark album they help break up the darkness a little. With out those songs it might have been too dark. The thing I love about Makaveli album is that I have never experienced an album like that before or since. It is truely unique not only in the lyrics and beats but also in concepts and vibe as well. Nobody has successfully copied that vibe. It just amazes me how different that cd is not only in the history of hip hop but also in Pac's own history of albums.

lol ya the album is nothing short of amazing..... i really dont understand why toss it up gets so much hate ... well i do understand why however the track is still good .

I remember I saw it next to my older brothers collection of CDs in the bedroom we shared at the time. He had loaned it from a friend of his. I put the CD into the Hifi and lyed on my bed, that shit made me sleep. At the time I was bumping alot of 'Can C Me' and ALOT of 'Holla at Me' from AEOM. So was expecting that type of vibe, it was simply to deep and dark for me at the time. I remember being very dissapointed and not listening to it for a long time after that.

Then for some reason I decided to listen to it again ever since then Ive been hooked. I bought the CD twice cause the first 1 dissapeared. I agree with those who feel 'Just like dadday' and 'toss it up' dont belong, Just like daddy was the track I would always skip and toss it up I was bored of the long ass part were Kci and Jojo sang,,,so I fast forwarded to Pacs verse (which is hot).

To 'live and die in la' fits properly, if it wasnt there,,,the album would be far TOO dark,
