now it's definitely mob money, and i'm not fucking with it, but it could also be a scam too. the old cash this, the check bounces a month later, and i'm fucked because i already sent the money. ...then again, the checks are from wells fargo.

hmmmm...

surprised you of all people went for it...regardless of the fact u were bored and what not. Still interesting tho.

Cash them all. That's like 30+ G's!! Then when the Gambinos call tell them to go fuck themselves. ;)

I ran into a couple of those when I was working for the bank, let me tell you what you do.

Go purchase a cashier's check from the bank it's drawn off of and compare it to the one you have. Look for watermarks, logo's and all the official seals.

If the check matches, I say try and cash it. The bank is going to be a little suspicious because of the large amount, just tell them you got it in a settlement.

Don't cash it at your bank, take it to the bank it's drawn off of and they have to honor their own check as long as you have two valid pieces of ID.

I can't tell you how many of those they cashed at Bank One and no one realized they were fake until like months later. And in those cases, no one was in trouble, they have no way to contact the person who cashed the check and they couldn't anyway. Bank One just ate the lost.

As you notice all the checks are under ten G's. The bank doesnt have to notify the IRS of any transaction under ten G's.

Very true Meyer, they won't have to fill out a CTR, but they will fill out a MIPL, which is similar, but it doesn't take as much information. It just pretty much triggers an alert, and if in the same week, another large amount is cashed, then the bank can fill out a SAR, but that's only if you're doing this all at the same bank. Other than that, if he doesn't have an account with that bank, they won't have a way of knowing until like months later...

I don't think I was supposed to tell that information, lol

nah those arent fake, they are real checks and they will clear.if dante cashes them, then when the owner of the account complains, they will come after him and question him.if he threw away the envelope the checks came in and deleted the emails, then he is really fucked.

i don't really have any interest in cashing them. i'm just happy to see that the first time i responded to spam someone tried to mail me money.
