some people REALLY need to brush up on their history... whites didnt enslave blacks, african blacks enslaved african blacks and sold them to whites. then whites enevtually freed the blacks from slavey, granted, it was hundreds of years later. better late than never, right?

Yes africans were sold by other africans to europeans, but as you may know those europeans kept them as slaves under horrible conditions for well over 300 years. So to claim some sort of moral high ground from the euuropeans/americans is just silly.

Lol the Africans may have sold their own people but they didn't set up the system. Who in their right mind would downplay the role of white people in the African slavetrade? Obviously greed played a large factor but race was the entire issue. You should brush up on your history. It's not like white people one day decided "hey, lets enslave these black folks because we're so evil and stuff!", it was just another chapter in race relations. Hitler's little crusade had the same roots as the African slavetrade. This has to be some of the most backwards shit I've ever read and it's not even the point of the thread either.

i deal with college "educated" people on a daily basis at work and they are the dumbest fucks i have ever met in my life. the sad part is their own bosses know this too and it scares them, especially from the agency that decides who is a good parent or not and make the choice to take peoples children away.

there are probably millions of college educated whites that are not going to vote for obama. polls don't mean shit. nobody should take them so seriously as you are. especially one that was more than likely conducted online

and as far as the whole african slave trade thing goes, yes the europeans adopted the system from the africans and moslums. the difference was that the africans were a little bit more humane when it came to the whole thing and the europeans took it to a whole new brutal level. and then the europeans went around killing everyone that wouldn't accept their ways.

My thread was a joke to begin with. I didn't honestly mean to make a serious point with it. I know polls don't really mean anything. To be honest, I made the thread knowing that you will come in and say what you said. You're the most predictable conservative I know.


Still, people with a college education are better equipped with knowledge of politics because historically college campuses have been the most politically aware and active places. In high school, there's little political discourse before senior year because, well obviously, you're not old enough to vote so what is the point? So, those who miss out on college are less likely to be surrounded by political discourse.

I think it's safe to say that people who were in a politically aware atmosphere for four years or more in college are better equipped at making better decisions regarding who to vote for. It's those people who don't switch their vote because one candidate's pastor makes controversial comments.

As for your "I interact with college educated dumb fucks" comment, that's irrelevant because intelligence doesn't always go hand in hand with political views.

Yeah the whole slavery thing had been in place for centuries but the European African slavetrade was significantly different. Slavery was more of a medieval practise, you conquer a territory and you absorb those left alive. They'd be at the bottom of society and could in some cases even work their way up. The years in America that came after slavery are more alikened to this system. The point of it all wasn't so much slavery itself, it was the fact that it was morally justified by saying that people of negroid descent were of a lesser species. People have always looked upon other civilizations as "savages" but the whole notion of racism came from Europe. When the modern day Egyptians took over Egypt from black Africans they knocked off the nose of the Sphinx because it had black features but it wasn't because of race, it was simply the way it was back then, they were trying to erase the previous inhabitants' history (and did a pretty damn good job at it). But in Europe people had ideas that led to for example Carleton Coon's anthropology work and pretty much set the tone for race relations in the future. I mean there's actually a politically correct word for talking about black people "African-American", this has nothing to do with slavery. Some people will point out that other "races" had slavery as well but slavery itself was not the real issue. It didn't start with slavery and it didn't end with it.

maybe blacks would still be slaves today if whites hadnt taken action against it. maybe blacks would have revolted and became free anyways. maybe cows will come down from another planet in flying saucers wanting to take all our jell-o and ice cream back to their planet for safe keeping. we really just dont know, do we?

Lincoln freed the slaves because it was cheaper to hire a german than maintain a slave.
