An underworld boss has been found guilty of slaying a businessman and his young family in a barbaric deal to front his drugs empire.

Kenneth Regan was found guilty, along with cohort William Horncy of butchering the Chohan family.

A third man, Peter Rees, was found guilty of murdering Amarjit Chohan, 45, and assisting an offender but cleared of the other murder charges.

The prosecution said Regan slayed the businessman and his family so he could take over Mr Chohan's freight company and use it as a front for importing drugs.

Mr Chohan, his wife Nancy, 24, their sons Devinder 18 months, Ravinder eight weeks and Mrs Chohan's widowed mother Charanjit Kaur, 51, "disappeared" in February 2003 and were later found murdered.

Mr Chohan's body was found floating in the sea near Bournemouth pier that April.

His wife's body was recovered in the same area in July and Mrs Kaur's body was found in November off the Isle of Wight. The bodies of the boys are still missing.

The court heard that millionaire Mr Chohan was made to sign false notes to friends and colleagues saying he was fleeing the country because of business problems.

After he had signed over his company, Regan and his henchmen carried out the murders.

Detective chief inspector Dave Little, who led the investigation, said: "This is a crime utterly beyond the comprehension of decent society.

"A young family, a new family, was entirely wiped out at the hands of these murderous men, in an attempt to line their own pockets."

they only got caught after a relative in New Zealand sent a e-mail to the Met asking for their dissapearance to be investigated :(

sad story. innocent people getting killed just because they had money.

Don't you people read the damn articles? Or do you read the first three lines and jump to conclusions?

It didnt matter the man was rich, what mattered was his freight company.

If the murderers need a freight company to ship drugs theyre not gonna kill a man for a couple of millions more. They're gonna make plenty. The company was the reason behind the murder.

sheez

well technically, for him to own the freight company, he has to be rich :D so they killed him for the freight company because he was rich

the mobster was well known to the police. And they also killed an 8 week old baby.

The reason that they picked this guy was becasue he had already been in prison about 10 years ago for tax evasion. So they thought they could easily forge his disappearance and take over his company without his staff thinking anything was foul. And the fact that he had a successful frieght comapny which is what they were after.

The mobsters who did this were millionaires as it was. The guy who was the ring leader is known to mingle with the rich and famous, drive flash cars. They didn't want his money, if they did want his money, then they would have got the guy to sign over his properties which is where all of his money was invested. He couldn't tell the police becasue he was lured to a remote village thinking it was business contract, then kept in a cellar, tortured for a week to sign everything and then killed, how was he supposed to tell the poice?

3 generations of a family were wiped out for someones greed. They tortured them first for a week to sign over all of the documents and letter, he was forced to leave answer messages on company phones as well. Have a little respect for once, rather than throwing wack jokes in the hope of reps!

don't you hate it when you spend 40 mins attempting to formulate a appropiate stance on the issue stonned. I swear you write a paragraph that dosen't make sence and goes nowhere then delete it. Usually i would have given up and exited the thread but i thought i would let you know that i was one many that entered. Thanks
