Technology Convert to MP4

What programs do you use to convert to the Mp4 Ipod format? I'd like to use Quicktime Pro. I'm not willing to pay if there's something else out.

i just put a cd into my computer. bring the cd up on itunes. then click and drag what songs off the cd i want on my library and itunes does the rest.

really? Somehow isn't workin for me, at least if I try 2 copy .avi files I did with my digicam.

you have the ipod video hu? well if u are using the reg ipod and u want to save alottttt of room download nero the demo of course lolol aand convert your mp3 tracks to mp4 and ull save tons of room.
i have a 15 gb ipod and i have at least 2,000 songs on there and with like 6 or 7 gb left, so go with nero its worth it
