Wow, thank God their actually gonna do this. I remember seein an interview with Kevin Smith where he said that the Clerks II script ended up turning into Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. I was really pissed when I heard that but I guess they decided to take another stab at it.

kevin smith said the same thing on the documentary movie "an evening with kevin smith".

Kevin went back to the Viewaskewniverse for two main reasons - firstly he promised Jason Mewes that he could play Jay again if he got clean (which Mewes subsequently did and he's been drug free for a few years now)! Secondly whilst working on the Clerks 10th Anniversary DVD Kevin Smith fell back in love with Dante and Randal and decided there and then to make another movie.

He never intended to leave the Viewaskewniverse behind totally as there are still plans for an animated feature and various comic books but Clerks II is definitely a bonus for the fans who thought there would be no more live-action Viewaskewniverse!
