It seems that I've developed such a case. The problem is, I'm not sure due to what. A month ago, I got a cold and was coughing/wheezing/sneezing/had a runny nose, the whole nine yards. At the same time, I developed a slight habit for smoking when intoxicated - meaning I'd light a couple cigarettes when drunk or high. The problem is, I'd get drunk or high frequently. Anyway, my cold disappeared after taking medicine but the coughing stuck with me. It can be said that I've been constantly coughing for more than 3 weeks or so. I've stopped smoking cigarettes and thank God I didn't develop a bad habit for it yet - I haven't developed an addiction, as far as I know. The thing is, it's probably due to smoking that I'm constantly coughing now, and not like a symptom of a cold or anything. That's frightening, I have to say. Now, I know I have to go to a doctor if I want to treat this but I just want to see if anybody had similar experiences and how they overcame them. Does the doctor give you medication or merely tell you, "stop smoking"?
