Hey, I've heard google is releasing their own web browser called Chrome which is supposed to be a lot faster, user friendly, etc. But it set up a lot differently from the typical browsers of IE and Firefox, etc. Such as a larger area to see the web without all of the links at the top of the browser and combining the search field and the web address field, etc.

Anyone know if there is somewhere for regular people to sign up and test the Beta version of this program? I definitely want to try it out. :)

im using it right now. its fast, runs smooth, takes less space, and looks good. so far its my favorite, but i say so far because i have to see if i run into compatibility issues later on

It only just got released yesterday, I'm about to check it out.

I read something about their end user agreement being shady. From what I understood, if you use the browser for anything, it becomes property of Google.

There is a version available where you don't have to agree to the EULA. All you have to do is build it from the source code..tho you will need visual studio. Then it's under a BSD licence and you can do what you want.

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content, you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.

Seem's like it applies more to Gears etc, but at the start, they do define Chrome as a service, so fuck that. It gives them a royalty free licence, rather than ownership, and it is only for promotion, but I'd still rather not agree to it :P

I suppose, in theory, they could now use this post to promote Chrome?

Go for it.

From what i've noticed, it's got a lot of the features from firefox, but I am missing adblocking. It's also run very nicely, using very little memory, unlike firefox when I get my tab on.

It's definately a very clean and streamlined service. It will take a bit of usage to determine whether I like it more than Firefox3. I definately like the home page.
