Many christians/muslims/hindu/buddhists/etc have donated money to the tsunami effort, it just sucks that now a village in india hates christians now because they won't help them out for following the "wrong" religion.

Dude, thats exactly what they are doing. They are helping people (which they dont have to do in the first place), and showing them their beliefs about Christianity. They are using their knowledge to help these people. No one is holding a gun to anyones head and saying "You have to be Christian or I will kill you!" No one is killing Muslims or Hindus because they are non-Christian, yet on the otherhand as groobz said, Muslims kill Christians just for being Christian.

And no Iraq is not a faith war, at least not from the western point of view.

These people are using knowledge and peace to help people, but they are Christian, so they will say God Bless you and talk about Jesus because that is what they believe and it is their right to do so. Then you have other people who throw it back in their face and then bitch that they arent doing enough. If you want help from Christian groups, respect their beliefs its that simple. Seems to me everyone wants Christians to respect the belief of Muslims and Hindus but no one wants to return the favor, they expect the Christians to bend to their beliefs.

Thats not even stated in the article at all! It simply says the Christians left. Doesnt give reasons why.

Maybe one of the villigers raped or killed one of the mercinaries, stole from them or something like that. The article is totally one sided and biased to all fuck.

And if the tracks were packed ready to go, there is nothing to suggest that either a) the aid wasnt meant for the village over the villigers just didnt want to take it. b) they werent abused and disrespected for their beliefs, and didnt just choose to leave not wanting to cause a further scene, or not speaking English, or not being shy, or in a hurry. Nothing suggests they even saw the journalists. Why no photos or video of these evil missionaries running away if the journalists were there?

Im not saying there arent bad people out there taking advantage of these people, Im saying this article is bullshit, and its dumb for you to just believe it like brainwashed slaves. And its even dumber for this to reflect poorly on the majority of Christian missionaries and Christians doing the right thing.

The reporters could also have been just those reporters who call into their news station and give a phone report, who don't have cameras. We won't know until those missionaries give their story which may take awhile

I don't think they are teaching them a thing about christianity. From what the article says all they are doing is giving aid in return for conversion to christianity. Of course this story is biased, but i don't think the villagers would reject 'lifesaving aid' in order to hit the news headlines. If this proves true then i think the missionaries should be punished imo. Also i dont think we should use this 'one-off' situation to talk badly about all missionaries/christians. I think that these missionaries should focus more on saving life. Instead they focus on spreading the word of christianity. What is a more christian thing to do, save a life or convert someone to your religion. Some missionaries believe its the latter.

Dude, I am a journalist, I work for a magazine, a real job not no internet reporting, if I was to submit a story like that to my editor I would be laughed at and fired.

I never said the villagers are rejection aid. I think they want the aid, but at the same time dont want to respect the missionaries beliefs.

But yes if true they should be punshied, but not based on this one sided biased poorly done article.

As for the Muslim comment I was reffering to what Groobz said about Sudan.

Dont get me wrong, a lot of my friends are Muslim, I work in a largly Muslim petroilum industry. I respect any man or women that deserves my respect and gives it back, no matter what faith they have as long as they are tolerent of my beliefs we cool.

Yeah, they kidnapped them sure... You cant kidnap someone if everyone knows where they are. They got their first and so decided to help them first. What the fuck do you want, before anyone is helped everyone should sit down in a counsil and vote on what is good? This was an emergency. People were dieing, starving. These kids were homeless and in pain, they lost their families. Of course any group that gets there first is going to help them straight away without wasting any time.

What, do you think only Muslims should help Muslims? Christians arent allowed to help non Christians? Do you realize how ignorant that sounds?

You basically stated you'd have no problem with it if it was one of the other muslim groups that "kidnapped" these kids, but just because they are Christians you think its wrong.

^ i said the muslim and the other 100 or so groups that were there. i never said muslims should help muslims only, the majority of the christian aid workers that are found in those hit areas are there for help and help only, even the pope opposed and spoke out against proselytizing and said christians should not take advantage of the tsunami disaster to recruit converts. im all for help from followers ofany religion, race etc, but using Jesus, food, money on the young and the needy to bring converts is just plain inhumane if you ask me.

I already stated my opinion. But I'll say it again. Ultimately, like I said, I dont see a reason for bringing religious animosity into a situation based upon the rectification of human tradegy. The goal should be to ease the pain and deliver much needed care and supplies....if anything this deliverance of aid should be used as a way to encourage positive interaction and understanding between religions rather than another potential conflict-driving "fear of the other" scenario. Muslim, Christian, Hindu whatever - aid is aid, help is help - its sad that people play the conversion card to detract from what is important.

Despite everything, who is to say there is anything wrong with Christians discussing their beliefs or Hindu's adhering to theirs. I do not believe this nonsense about refusing delivery unless conversion takes place. If these communities are as strongly religious as the article says, why should they fear their beliefs would be poisoned by Christians anyway. Death and disease should be the greatest concern, not that people may be exposed to religious freedom of speech...and heaven forbid....choice.

Amara, You make it sound as if these people are scared to convert. May be they have belief in their own religion and they don't want to convert. Maybe they have read the contradictions of the bible and are afraid of commiting their life to those cntradictions.
Also their is nothing wrong with discussing their beliefs, but you can't force your beliefs on another person as the missionaries have tried.
Another thing you say is that they will be given religous freedom and choice. They are being forced into religion through not having a choice(due to starvation) and yet you still paradoxically say that they will be given a choice. And what tells u that they don't have choice or freedom. Or r u jus making assumptions that every non westernised country is a dicatorship, where the people have no voice and no rights.
