For the most part, they're pretty good. Make sure they have the letters "DC" after their name. Their training is like medical doctors for the first 2 years, then focuses on the skeletal structure for the rest. They also take a lot of nutrition courses, which is good. Like doctors, some are better than others, and some are mostly incompetent and can hurt you. They shouldn't be treating a part of you that isn't bothering you. Like you go in for lower back pain and they also massage or manipulate your neck. They shouldn't be taking too many x-rays, if any. They shouldn't be trying to get you to buy their supplements. And you should feel some improvement within a month, and definitely not worse.[/QUOTE]
A friend of mine had a problem in his back fixed by the chiropractor and immediately felt a really bad pain in a different part of his back. What had happened was, this new pain had been there all the time but because of the nature of his original back problem he hadn't noticed it. The chiropractor then sorted out the second pain as well and it was all good.
