Chiropractors

Yeah!! If you're thinking about going to see one, go for it. It's well worth it. I'm planning to go soon.

I don't see my stepbrother very often (once or twice a year if that), but one time about 18 months ago he came round to my place and brought one of his friends with him. His friend had just finished his training and got his qualification to be a professional chiropractor.

I've had neck and upper shoulder muscular problems for years, I'm always having to crack my neck both ways, I have to do it like 3 or 4 times a day. So I asked him to to take a look.

He grabs my head from behind and says to totally relax. Then, he contorts and twists it into about three different places on either side, and I heard about 3 or 4 "cracks" for each one of those times. It was amazing, cos I usually only get two or three total on a daily basis. Obviously because he was trained he knew which areas to pinpoint etc.

The best way I can describe it afterward is that I just felt lighter. Like significantly lighter, as if I'd been walking around with big weights on my shoulders and someone had lifted them off for the first time.

I felt sooo much better for about 3 to 4 months before it was back to how it was before. I've been meaning to go and see a chiropractor for ages but just haven't gotten around to it yet. Definately, definately worth it.

I went to one twice a week for two years straight, I almost became a buddhist cus of it, lol it's really relaxing. If you play sports or have back neck whatever problems it's even better. Why you thinking of going just for the hell of it?

The recent car accident that I was in left me with some back and neck pains and being that I won't have to pay for it, I'll give it a try. I went in for my first time today and he said I have a slight case of scoliosis so we'll also work on that. Plus, I'll get massages too and shit.

The reason I'm asking is because there are doctors out there who won't refer you to chiropractors because they don't believe in their work or some shit and so I'm a bit skeptical. I don't want to be "wronged".

Yeah I have - I saw one a few years ago for a whip lash and he was really good,I would def recommend it!

I only stopped cos it was too expensive!!!

I'd go again if i could afford it!

It is really really good!!!!

For the most part, they're pretty good. Make sure they have the letters "DC" after their name. Their training is like medical doctors for the first 2 years, then focuses on the skeletal structure for the rest. They also take a lot of nutrition courses, which is good. Like doctors, some are better than others, and some are mostly incompetent and can hurt you. They shouldn't be treating a part of you that isn't bothering you. Like you go in for lower back pain and they also massage or manipulate your neck. They shouldn't be taking too many x-rays, if any. They shouldn't be trying to get you to buy their supplements. And you should feel some improvement within a month, and definitely not worse.

A friend of mine had a problem in his back fixed by the chiropractor and immediately felt a really bad pain in a different part of his back. What had happened was, this new pain had been there all the time but because of the nature of his original back problem he hadn't noticed it. The chiropractor then sorted out the second pain as well and it was all good.

I agree with Militant. I have lower back pains a lot and I go to a chiropractor about once every six months and it's well worth it. They make me feel awesome everytime. It's like you're an entire new you. The description of feeling "light" is dead on.
