No it's not cause its adorable. I always had dogs in my life. Always. If not, cats. For a year I have no pets. None. It doesn't feel the same. I like to take care of a pet, walk it, feed it, etc. I miss it. And when I saw the dog today I just fell in love. And I will take care of it.

I had a chihuahua once. Hated the idea of owning one, seemed too girly, but I miss that dog so bad. I'm a sucker for dogs, I cry during I Am Legend every every every every every time.

The dog was meaner than shit, dumber than hell and would go megaton at the drop of a hat. It would try to fight the biggest, baddest dogs around. Tried to fight a damn snake once during a camping trip, the snake was four times it's size!

But the chihuahua was fun, very lovable as well.

During said camping trip, we were fishing and I caught a fish, cooked and ate it, fed what I didn't eat to the dogs. I got verrrrrrrrry sick after that and both dogs died :'(

You should really take one from the pound as other people have suggested regardless of how you feel about the one you have seen already.

I mean come on, how many people go past a pet store and don't fall in love with what's in the window?

If you go to the pound you will fall in love with a dog that actually needs the help and support you're looking to provide it with.

^Well right now without school I'm good. It will be more hectic once school starts over again. But I will make time for it. And my bf's scheduled changed, he isn't going back to school til January. So when I'm back in school, he will be there to take care of the dog. Then we will see how we will manage in January but I'm confident we can work things out.

And if things don't work out? I'm not trying to get on your case but it just sounds like now is not the right time for you to get a dog. You can't even guarantee that in January things will work out. And what after you're done with college? Have you got any long-term plans so you know the dog will fit in along with them? What if you have to move and like your current appartment there are no pets allowed? What if you need to work all day? You're also dependent on your boyfriend in this situation, what if he disappears from the picture? Will you make time for it for 15 years?

I do not doubt that you'll try your best but certain things are out of your hands and it's the dog that will suffer for it, not you.

But if you get a dog get one from the pound. You're sure you're not supporting puppy mills (think about that grey dog's mother and how it had to live just so you could get your dog... and again, the pet store owners will not tell you if their supply of living products came from a shitty factory) and if you end up not being 100% able to give the dog what it needs a dog from the pound will still receive a better living.

So don't make me what I am not, which is someone who just gets pets for the hell of it but really doesn't give a fuck cause I ain't that fucking person.

That doesn't change what Sebastian said though does it? Okay so you're not getting it because it's cute but because you feel something lacking in your life. It still comes down to the same issue.

Just take everything into consideration. Will you be able to provide a dog with plenty of time and attention, a suitable living space etc. for 15 years? "I'll figure something out" or "I'll try" aren't good enough.
Again, I'm not trying to get on your case but simply wanting the dog and having the right intentions doesn't cut it and it's the dog that suffers. You didn't even give it a day's thought before deciding you wanted a dog. All of it just spells bad news to me.

On a serious note a lot of people get dogs in much smaller apartments.
My neighbor keeps a husky in a small flat with one bedroom and no living room. I also had a husky dog but seriously somebody has to be with them most of the time and go out with them at least 3 times a day because they need to run a lot.
Also, I'm sure that she'll take care of it and give it much more love than in the pound.
I also think it's pointless to buy dogs since there are also puppies of various breeds in dog pounds.

I think the best thing would be is that Carm has a backup owner. You know, someone that would take care of it, should the unexpected happen.

It's not a teckel...it's a weiner. I pick weiner over chihuahua. Chihuahuas are yippy and seem too fragile to have any fun with. That being said...weiners are very stubborn and can be hard to train. They can get fat too so you have to watch their diet.

and I agree that you should look for a shelter dog. You could probably find one that is already potty trained. It is A LOT of work (and time and $$$) training a puppy. I just got a new one in October and she has ruined so much sh.it already. She chewed the cord to my laptop and $$$ flat iron. Luckily the boy was handy with that bc I was about to cry over it. Someone else dropped her off at the vet for me when she was fixed and told them it was ok to remove her puppy teeth. Which was $25/tooth thank god she only had 3 puppy teeth left. THEY FALL OUT ON THEIR OWN!

^Have you ever had one? No. I adopt all my animals. I don't fuck with breeders. I like to rescue animals instead of paying for overpriced animals from breeders. You can get the same type of dogs at shelters if you look hard enough.

They have a website the place here who rescues dogs and they are all huge dogs. I'm not the type to squeeze in a huge dog in my apartment. A dog needs its space.

I wouldn't buy an animal from a pet store, got both of my cats from a shelter and it was cheaper and your saving a life. There are a few around Adelaide though so I have that option. Is there only one shelter in Montreal?

There are many shelters here.
SPCA's ... Animatch is also a good place.
Westmount cat-lady is also a good spot to adopt cats if you want one.

The good thing with Animatch, if the worst happens, and you can't take care of em. They want you to give it back to them, or they'll find it a temporary household until you get back on your feet.
