iv'e read several stories about the use of urine benefiting health, WW1/2 soldiers used urine to treat their wounds because urine is sterile, and it is disgusting but have read stories about people having epilepsy drinking their own urine as a means to help their condition with positive results

sounds like the doctor who helped her is onto something however unorthodox her medical practice methods sounds
