Charities or Donations?

I was wondering is anyone here part of a certain charity or gives regular donations for a certain cause?

I'm just curious.

To answer my own question, I give to the SPCA every once and a while.

What about you guys?

Can I ask why you choose to donate to the SPCA, rather than to help cure cancer or feed the starving?

I donate 3-5 bucks to my student PAC or whatever every quarter and they go off and fight global warming and high text book prices.

You know, that's a really good question. I have given to the Childrens Hospital in the past, and breast cancer research and I just signed onto a 10$/Month donation for Aids research/Education, but I've always given the most to the SPCA.

I can't really give you a specific answer to be honest. I love animals obviously, even though I don't put them above humans or below.
I've also grown up around SPCAs, so I know what goes on there and how it's understaffed, under-supplied and below average conditions.

So if you want an answer, it just feels right, that's all.

I don't donate. I think charities are a waste.

They don't ever address the problem but rather the symptoms.

There is no point because you'll always have to donate and nothing would change in the end looking at the big picture.

Besides by paying taxes we are already helping because some of it always goes to people in need.

Why don't you put animals above people? I do. It's completely acceptable.

lol. At times, I feel I should, since humans are pieces of shit, but I don't like putting one of above the other. Technically, we need animals as much as they need us.


.... Actually thinking about it, they don't really need us, if we dissapeared, they'd prob go back to their natural way of life. lol :S

I always donate to St. Jude but I try to pick different ones every couple months to donate to once. laptops for kids and oxfam are the only 2 I can remember.

The Red Cross, my aunt used to work for that organization. Also to a Swedish organization for children. But not on a regular basis, just occasionally.
