Cee-Lo & DJ Danger Mouse collaborate

Cee-Lo and DJ Danger Mouse are collaborating together under the name Gnarls Barkley and are releasing an album this May called St. Elsewhere.

The album has been a year in the making and both have desperately been trying to finish it. The delay did not come from any creative clashes, nor was there a lack of inspiration and motivation for the project – it was just that both of them have been so damn busy.

"Both of us had breaks in our schedules at the same time recently,” said Danger Mouse. “I flew down to Atlanta and two weeks later we had eight songs done. No doubt we'll finish the album this month. We're on a roll."

This is the latest in the long line of collaborative projects that have the Danger Mouse stamp on it. His name started circulating after pairing up Jay Z’s The Black Album with chopped up Beatles tracks from The White Album. After receiving critical acclaim far beyond the hip-hop world for the finished product, The Grey Album, which labelled the work a “cultural milestone”, doors for the producer started opening. He has worked with Murs, MF Doom and recently produced the Gorillaz’s latest album, Demon Days.

Cee-Lo, a member of the Goodie Mob, is an accomplished MC outside of the group. He has released four albums in the last six years, but this could well be his best solo outing to date.

St. Elsewhere is released May 2nd. The first official single drops April 10th.
