tonight i cancelled my work shift cause i honestly couldn't go. i'm exhausted, i have this psych assignment that's due tomorrow and i honestly need a bit of time with myself.

i feel bad for cancelling it. i'm the type of person who feels bad if they cancel shifts, arrive late or leave early from work. i know i'll have no consequences, but i still feel bad somehow. i care about being a good worker. i mean, i know i ain't a top worker, i'm lazy sometimes but eh it's a call center they don't even noticed cause it's such a boring job. still, i feel bad. i don't know. i've always been like this. i don't care to arrive late or leave early from school, but when it comes to work, i can't do it. i feel bad.

it's the 2nd time in almost 1 year i cancel a shift, which is very good compared to my co-workers who cancel a shift every now and then.

i suck eh? :(

yes:laugh:

no, actually i'm the same way. I never call in unless i absolutely have to because i feel terrible about it. I haven't called in sick in almost two years.

actually i'm pretty bad. there was this time i was so freaking sick. but yet i went to work and did my whole shift. i had fever and everything but i didn't wanna cancel or leave early. i'm bad.

Im like this as well.i even feel guilty about asking for the holidays im entitled to.

^^well i'm not that bad then. if i'm entitled to my holidays, i'll take them. i don't waste those lol. but if i'm scheduled, i feel guilty if i don't go.

ain't it called that? how do you call that? that's me translating from french to english. might be bad.

Shit i remember when i used to work in retail and crappy jobs that every time i was too fucked up from the night before i would call out and i really wouldn't give a shit. Then now that im in the family business, i dont call out at all because i don't have to. :thumb:

yeh i think you're just focussed on the reliability part of it. you want to maintain yourself as a reliable worker, who'll go the extra step to get the work done. it's nothing bad.. it's actually a positive trait to have, and will pay dividends for you in the future

i hate changing shifts, and the concept of not sticking to the work schedule is wrong if you ask me. what's the point of a schedule then.

on the other hand, like you said, you are exhausted and need it. i've changed a shift here and there, but thing is, since last september i've put in about 2-300 overtime hours. half of them i didn't even submit to get paid for. i never once called in sick for work though. i will never do it unless i like throw up and shit and can't actually be in the store. but i never get so sick that i cant go to work. so i'm with you on that. i'm lazy at work some times too, especially when im working late shifts because the afternoons are so slow and you just get real tired and lazy so i end up surfing the boards. but i believe in being a good worker and when i work early shifts i work like a motherfucker and i'm good at what i do.

i just tend to come in two minutes over the time all the time. check linx thread, i wrote more about the situation there, but basically im gonna improve on that and then there's nothing to call me out on. over the course of the next six months to a year i will quit smoking hash the way i do, mark my words. possibly this winter, but most likely next fall, i am gonna start studying and then i can't smoke anyway. until then i'm gonna do my job as well as i can because like i said earlier and you said earlier, i believe in being a good worker no matter even if it's just a temporary job or something.

this will be my 5th week in a row i have cancelled my shift. I work at crown casino food and beverage and it blows. I dont feel bad because our managers are shit. Typical Human Resource manager fuck up and i'm not the only person who constantly calls in sick.

i think you are more likely to call in sick if you resent managers or dont give a fuck about the job. thats where alot of organisations fail through letting down there staff

yeah but actually my supervisors are really cool. like i could honestly chill with them. they are young students like me. of course they gotta do their job which is make me work properly and check me, but they're cool.

i just want to be that reliable worker. but then again it doesn't matter really at my place cause it's call center. they don't give a shit if you cancel, they'll give your shift to somebody else. i just wanna prove myself i'm reliable. it kinda sucks because you know they'll never vaule your reliability where i work. you never feel valued or something. but still, i like to be on time and everything.

thats good u feel like that cuz i dont feel like that at the callcenter i work at...sure i appreciate it....but not as much as i should..and i think i should......ive been working there for almost a year now.

yeah that my point Carmi, you like your managers therefor you want to show them the same respect they show you. My workplace is different. its good to be like that not only for the money but you earn that work ethic. In future jobs that is where you will get the job promotion or pay rise

What kind of family business?

Mind you, I had some good mexican jokes lined up, but I resisted the temptation.
