As we all know there are 2 companies that work on the Call of Duty series; Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

Treyarch is set to be release their game soon enough, most people thought it was gonna take place in Vietnam. That's half true... It's gonna take place during the Cold war in general.

Sharkey says: If you've been following this game with us, you know it's set during the Cold War, and in classic Call of Duty fashion, the story will see players take on the roles of soldiers in different armies fighting in different conflicts around the world. This will be the first non-Modern Warfare title to take the series out of World War II, and a large part of the action will take place in Vietnam.

It should be good. I can't think of any game that is centered around aspects of the Cold War. (We might have aspects of the Korean War involved also?) ...

I have my fingers crossed for this one. First time Treyarch leaves behind WW2.

should be dope. campaign mode will probably be amazing. i hope the multiplayer maps arent too big and camper friends like mw2.

trailers coming out 2nite

^lmao not surprised. i seen videos on youtube girlfriends breakin systems and shit haha.

I've been reading rumors of missions taking place in Cuba (The Bay of Pigs invasion reference perhaps?) ...

Edit: Just saw the trailer, looks like there's more to it than what's been said...

We'd heard the rumors for months that the next Treyarch Call of Duty game would be the studio's first outside of World War II, but when the Black Ops teaser trailer launched last week, it was difficult to tell exactly when and where the game would take place. Last night, Treyarch head Mark Lamia finally made it official: Black Ops takes place during the Cold War and a sizable chunk of the action is in Vietnam.

In an interview with USA Today, Lamia revealed the game will include a co-op mode for two to four players and said the campaign's story will tell the tale of the "hot war" that took place between the United States and the U.S.S.R. out of the public eye during the Cold War. The Treyarch boss said Maj. John Plaster, a veteran of the black ops unit Studies and Observations Group (SOG), served as an invaluable consultant on the project.

"(Plaster) was able to talk through what it was like being in the SOG and in particular his experiences during the Vietnam War era and the kind of, at the time, classified and sort of black operations that he was a part of," Lamia told USA Today. "Their stories in particular were not ones that were ever told and while we are not endeavoring to make a historical account, it's an entertainment product, he also feels that this could inspire people to want to learn about the history of what these soldiers experienced and went through."

Other tidbits from USA Today's interview with Lamia and a hands-on with a Black Ops preview level: Among the many authentic weapons players will use is a modified military crossbow, which can be used for stealth or with explosive-tipped arrows.

Variety of gameplay was a big theme for Treyarch while making Black Ops. In a preview level, USA Today went from piloting a reconnaissance aircraft to ground combat in the Soviet Union, demonstrating how the studio wants to take their Call of Duty game to Infinity Ward levels.

Also, the release date is in nov.

^Nice I missed that during last nights game.

But wow that looks amazing. Leave it to treyarch to make the best COD's

This is coming out too fast... I'm still addicted to MW2, lol. I will still be getting this when it comes out though. Not sure how i'll split my time between the two online.

Treyarch stated that they will have dedicated servers (Yay, for us PC gamers), and they will also be bringing back the zombie type co-ops ... now Communist Zombies. LOL. They also stated that they've been listening to fan suggestions closely, and to expect a lot of goodies in multiplayer and the game itself.

That is why they have the "mute" feature in the game.

Yeah but often times it leaves you muting your entire team. Which sucks for someone like me who likes to strategize. Or they don't start being annoying until you're already playing and it's inconvenient to mute them. I know it's an option. I'd just rather another option and the PC might be it.

Call Of Duty MW 2 is the most overrated game of all time imo.

and following it up with another one so soon after is just ridiculous imo. Im willing to bet its gonna be pretty much the exact same thing but in a different setting.

and also the Treyarch COD games so far have been sub par. COD 3 was awful and WOW was just ok imo.

world at war is a great game and its more balanced than mw2, less camping and those camp can easily get killed. in mw2 you got like 3 campers in a single. you pop one and one of the other 2 get you.

i have feeling that the black op maps are gonna be huge like mw2 which will promote camping.

I've gone back to playing World At War just for the Nazi Zombies, and hard-core FFA. While playing it after such a long time, I really saw how it's much more superior to MW2 in terms of multiplayer gameplay.

I'm sure Black Ops will deliver. Treyarch seem to have an actual brain, starting off with dedicated servers shows that they actually listen to their fans (well us PC gamers) unlike for MW2 where they blew us off completely, and let hackers run amok in servers, without giving us the ability to ban them permanently.
